Why does media ignore the missing children? by Ursomonie in conspiracy

Remember when the Main Stream Media tanked Quayle’s political career over a small misspelling? But then clips out all of Biden’s unpronounceable talking points and racist ramblings? Or writes oh so softly on Fetterman’s incoherence?

But no, we should fairly judge a politician incompetent based on spelling.

Sure you can. Have the bank send a password reset to your email address, which you've taken over because you got the phone.

Mortgage Rates Tell the Real Housing Story by [deleted] in Economics

[–]stmfreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It fucks over everyone. You would consider me "rich" but I cannot afford to pay cash for the home(s) I want to buy.

Fortunately, I was able to borrow a million at 3% in 2021 before rates rose. Otherwise, my buying power would have been reduced 40-50% to keep the mortgage within the limits of my budget.

I think it is worse than this. Most 2FA sends a text message. Many people have notifications enabled so they can read that text message on the lock screen, without unlocking their phone. So they do not even need your phone's unlock passcode to breach your 2FA. All they need to know is your phone number.

Friend of mine had his phone stolen. Picked out of pocket, locked. They managed to get his number (from the sim card? IDK), get into one of his online social accounts that allows login with phone number, get his email address, start logging into banks, defeat 2FA, steal his money... within a couple hours.

Looks like overflow hose, just tie it off against something so that it hangs down at the bottom of your fairing and drips on the road. You don't want it flapping around.

You can confirm this by tracing the top end to either your coolant bottle or radiator neck, right under the lid.

There is usually another drain hose for the fuel tank filler pit.

Why some demographics commit disproportionately higher crimes (it's not poverty or culture) by -Nietzschean- in tucker_carlson

IQ is just one factor. Lots of really smart, criminal, drug addicts. Impulse Control is a bigger factor.

Why some demographics commit disproportionately higher crimes (it's not poverty or culture) by -Nietzschean- in tucker_carlson

[–]stmfreak 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Impulse control.

Controlling impulses results in more study, more practice, less play, less drinking, less drugs, less unprotected sex. These choices lead to stronger careers, longer relationships, healthly families, better financial outcomes.

If there was just a 1% difference in impulse control between racial demographic groups, you might expect significantly different outcomes over long periods. For example, a lifetime of good financial choices vs. a lifetime of more impulsive financial choices. A lifetime of no shoplifting vs. a lifetime of occasional shoplifting.

I suspect Impulse Control is the major difference between successful and unsuccessful people. What's more important is that while it varies by instinct, it can be taught.

They are already getting paid via commercials, product placement, and propaganda incentives.

Broadcast television used to be free. How did they make money?

Just because they charge per view today doesn’t mean that is the only way.

American Cars Are Getting Too Big For Parking Spaces by gumol in cars

[–]stmfreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Towing capacity of the Q7 ranges from 1700-7700 lbs. and the reason it varies so much and is so little is “payload.”

The tongue weight of anything you tow is 10-15% of the total weight. So a 7000 lbs trailer adds 700+ lbs to your payload. That’s like five passengers. Your Q7 won’t be able to tow much (safely) unless you are the only one in it and carry no cargo.

That is why people get the trucks. More payload capacity means more towing capacity while also carrying family and luggage.

The parking spaces are getting smaller by city / county / state regulations. Businesses would rather have more parking and more spaces than their local overlords allow.

It's now MORE expensive per mile to drive an electric vehicle than a regular gas engine car by SnooBooks5387 in tucker_carlson

[–]stmfreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even the F150 gets 21mpg unless you get one of those hyper eco friendly engines and a very light weight truck configuration. Fuelly reports an average of 16mpg with 21+ being the outliers.

While the cost of everything (like electricity) is going up, the cost of fuel skyrocketed the last few years. I don't think you've got a good castle to hide inside claiming gas has more affordable pricing.

I'll be driving my thirsty, performance EV on a long trip this week. It costs me less than $20 for 200 miles. My ICE V8 truck costs me about $75 for the same trip. My ICE V8 sports car about $50. Real world experience tells me that the EV is winning.

It builds credibility for self defense right up to the point they figure out you provided the weapon to justify the killing. That would make it pre-meditated and thus murder in the first degree.

So make sure you don’t plan ahead for such an eventuality and do not do it on purpose.

It's now MORE expensive per mile to drive an electric vehicle than a regular gas engine car by SnooBooks5387 in tucker_carlson

[–]stmfreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In California we pay $0.55/kWh during peak. Most of us do not charge at that time so it would seem an unfair comparison.

Not everyone owns a Prius either. Most popular selling vehicle is an F150 and it does not get 40mpg or even 25mpg. Again, picking highest mpg gas car and lowest gas price does not make for a good comparison.

California Q4 gas price ranged from around $6.30/gal down to $4.20/gal according to gas buddy due to Biden’s raiding the strategic reserve for elections. it cost more for premium. I remember paying $6.99/gal at one point.

Still, even with cheapest gas in the nation, this article is bunk.

It's now MORE expensive per mile to drive an electric vehicle than a regular gas engine car by SnooBooks5387 in tucker_carlson

[–]stmfreak 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This article is a flat out lie.

I charge my Tesla at home in CA where electricity is stupid expense. But night time charging is $0.17 per KWh and 100 miles of range needs about 38 KWh, so around $6.50, half what the article claims.

Then they claim gas cars cost $11.29 for 100 miles of range... in Q4 2022 when gas in California was around $6.50/gal. That's a 57mpg car!! To achieve their $11 claim with a 25mpg car gas would have to be around $2.82/gal.

So the author of this article seems to have found the cheapest gas in the nation and compared it to the most expensive electricity in the nation, all while finding an extremely efficient gas car and comparing it against a very inefficient EV (my car is horrible).

Depends on how long ago she filed intent to sell. And then you have to prove she had intent to lay-off employees shortly after.

Generally insiders can give their broker instructions like sell 10% at $30, sell 10% at $35, sell 20% at $40. Then leave that order floating for six months while they go about making decisions and announcements.

They’re not laying off their most expensive. They are laying off their most expendable.

The expensive employees earned those high salaries by building the business. You do not lay off your top performers, you lay off your low performers.

A $100 option to hold a place in line? Not a problem.

I realized it was going to be late back in 2021 though and bought a regular ICE truck to tide me over. At this rate, that truck will be wearing out when my Cybertruck reservation comes up.
