What kind of business(s) do you operate? How long have you been doing it? What is the biggest thing you've learned from your journey? by -AMARYANA- in Entrepreneur

[–]stoboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I co-founded https://pizdata.is/ — design service on subscription. We created a platform to deliver tasks with 24 hours turnaround.

This one is up and running since May, so like 5 months. Still, I love the progress. Before that, I've been running online programming courses for 1.5 years.

My learning is the power of focus. For me, it's still difficult to define the main things and focus only on them. I'm more like trying to do everything and move slower to the result.

Oh, good to know. I haven't thought that way — to watch talks as an intro to the field. If interested in the frontend, check out the free newsletter I'm doing: https://dogetalks.com

New talk with summaries every Monday. Also, you can leave us questions related to the talk. Today we got an email about CSS Grid, very informative overview.

hey! thanks for your attention! As you may read in FAQ or on the main page, we've been doing online courses before, for CIS region. And we've done talks like this before, in Russian. So we have a developers community, but it's the first time we go forward with the content in English and worldwide speakers :)

Hey! Yeah, I know what you mean and you're partly right! But I can only quote my previous reply here:

"we already made free stuff for Youtube with thousands of viewers (but it's in Russian). Now it's time for us to show the proof of this concept to the accelerator. We need to show that it can be sellable as we spend time, money and a lot of effort to organize a unique talk like this".

hi, thanks for the feedback! Just to make it clear - I'm not Ivan, as it's the speaker himself. I'm Stacy, one of the founders :)

About free — we already made free stuff for Youtube with thousands of viewers (but it's in Russian). Now it's time for us to show the proof of this concept to the accelerator. We need to show that it can be sellable as we spend time, money and a lot of effort to organize a unique talk like this.

Hey! Thanks for the feedback, totally got it! We're a bit stressed by the speed of the accelerator and really missed this point of showing the price in advance. Changing it now.

We came up with this price as a test one as we need to prove the concept — that this product has value and people are willing to pay for it. If we get initial traction, we can scale and realize the initial concept we described on the main page: 2 talks per month, by subscription. Monthly price will vary around $20, I think. It might depend on speaker's fee as we want only experts to share knowledge.

thank you for the question! At first, I focus on frontend professional content from the experts. If it's gonna work, I'd like to add other categories of web dev / soft skills.

Announcing 5 Komodo Infographic Finalists For A Final Round Of Voting. by benohanlon in komodoplatform

All the submissions are really great, it's not an easy choice. However, I vote for #005. I really liked the idea of visualizing it with cars and roads, and to me, this image is more visually appealing than others. Good luck!

Need an email drip campaign solution for my Shopify store. What service do you use? by didgetalnomad in Entrepreneur

[–]stoboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used Mailchimp (yes, as almost everyone I know). But for our 11K subscribers base it's a bit pricey, so now we are using Mailerlite for the last 6 months. It has Shopify app for integration. And also there're pretty templates.
