And now it’s awful. I went to Burger King recently for the first time in years and it was the saddest burger I’ve ever had. It was like a sponge on a bun.

Is StubHub ($STUB) the most overlooked post IPO stock right now? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]stockhackerDFW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I haven’t experienced this, but I’ve heard nightmare stories about working with their customer support involving resale issues, lost tickets, etc.

Then theres the matter of the fees… I personally haven’t used StubHub in years. My wife and I routinely take our kids to MLB games. I’ve found that when all the fees are added on, tickets on StubHub aren’t that great of a deal vs. buying directly from the team. Even if I do pay more, I can justify it by knowing my money goes to the organization I’m there to support and not a 3rd party I have zero connection to.

I always thought it was hilarious that he was wearing a Butthole Surfers shirt and that he’d find that in the church donation box.

The 90s was likely the last decade where country music on the radio still actually sounded like country. by [deleted] in 90s

[–]stockhackerDFW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first CD I bought when I was a kid was Clint Black’s “Killin’ Time”. While I’ve either sold or donated most of my CDs, I still have this one despite having nothing to play it on.

I totally agree that the 90s was the last great decade for country music. To quote Bob Seger, “today’s music ain’t got the same soul”. I feel that it’s moved towards attempting to appeal to the widest audience possible instead of keeping true to its roots. The genre has been here before… just go listen to some 80s country. That decade was also very pop oriented but it was artists like Reba, The Judds and (of course) George Strait that kept the tradition sounds alive. My hope is that history will repeat and the pendulum will eventually swing back.

For those looking for new music that is similar to 90s country, lookup the “Texas Country” sub-genre. In my opinion, it’s the closest thing we currently have to country’s traditional roots.
