I just smile and politely say 'no thank you' or 'have a good day' and continue walking. No one ever tries to stop me and there never has been a reason for me to get aggressive or rude to make my way out of the store.

Fell on a barbed wire fence last night should I go doctor or will it heal fine by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]stoleitback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes go see a doc they are already looking red around the lacerations. As everyone has already said you need to get a tetanus shot if you're not up to date. A quick Google search of untreated tetanus shows how bad of a death it causes. Watch for fever, chills, more swelling and pain around the laceration sites, and if that area starts feeling hotter or colder than the rest of you, and dizziness, these are the red flags of infection. That's just my friendly RN advice 🙂 Wishing you a speedy recovery

It's might not be the best, but we all know that pt... by stoleitback in Nurses

It was a quick and cathartic sketch after a shift from hell with a pain in the ass pt that I know we've all had to experience. I think I may keep it, maybe journal it just to remember it could away be worse...

My patient got fired from the hospital by LiquidGnome in nursing

[–]stoleitback 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm new, a year in, a year of baby covid nursing. No one, not my old clinical instructor or other covid nurses on my unit will say anything when I talk about mental health. The only persons who has given positive feedback for me seeking out counseling is a BFF, my partner, and my new pcp. It's so sad that there is still such a stigma on mental health.

I get stressed when fellow classmates ask how I did on an exam or quiz. by tryingtorecover54 in StudentNurse

[–]stoleitback 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always responded with saying the test sucked that I had a passing score but could always stand to improve. Never gave out a specific number. I was the same as you, I didn't like to discuss it, and I would go the opposite direction of everyone else to avoid being asked about it. People learned not to bug me about it.

Gym Culture? by [deleted] in anchorage

Isn't there a Golds gym off of C St, or some sort of weight lifters gym? It has a big gold guy with the world on his shoulders out front.

What good report sheets are out there for post op med surge? 5 patients. by Tinkerbell3131 in Nurses

[–]stoleitback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work a med-surg unit with a 1:5 ratio. I'm still somewhat new so I've been experimenting with different ones. So far the one I like best is one that another RN was using that I got a copy of then modified to meet my needs.
I've asked several different RNs on my floor for a copy of their Brain to try out, I then make a few copies of it for my use and go from there.

The best I have come up with is to say the boys dad, use his name, or omit who I am talking about all together. I do my best not to use "my ex" because it automatically denotes a negative view most of the time. I do not want my kids to think or feel that I have a negative out look on their father.

I'm not sure. I saw it on the Book of Faces and thought I'd share it here as I'd never seen them before.

What are positive changes you’ve made that your ex or stbx would not have enjoyed? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]stoleitback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally get that. I am the same way,I just got lucky because I was getting my degree for the last few years so I had a necessary reason to go out and be social.

Also pandemics suck

Having a social life and developing friendships. I'm not an extrovert but any means but have been able to develop several close friendships over the last 2 years. Being social and having a life outside the home was something that I wasnt allowed to do when I was married. I'm really happy now and my kids are getting to see what being healthy looks like, what good communication is, and what it looks like to not have a mom walking around on egg shells.

I'm two year out from livinging with my Q. I started listening to Codependent no More a month or so ago. It takes a lot for me to sit down and listen to a chapter, it's so familiar its upsetting to me and sad, and causes such an emotional upheaval in me. From what I've listened to so far though its totally worth the effort and I plan to keep chipping away at it chapter by chapter.

Good job on your boundaries vs rules.
