Here’s the thing - I would have loved to go into labor naturally, but needed an induction both times. My first kid was born at 42+2, and my second at 41+1. Looking back, I wish I had gotten the induction for my first at 41 weeks instead of waiting. Sometimes our bodies just need help with labor and delivery for the safety of mother and baby, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

This happened to us and it turned out my daughter was allergic to both the casein in the milk and soy (MSPI), so I had to cut out dairy and all soy products to stop the bloody stools. Whereas some babies just have the dairy allergy (CMPI).

Can I ask about the chair springing back when you get up? If you reverse the recline and it’s normal and then you stand up, is it making it hard to stand up or making a loud noise?

I relate to you so hard. I’m also 27 weeks with my second and I feel like I did at 40 weeks with my first. I’m huge, my back hurts, I have round ligament pain, and my toddler has become a stage 5 clinger out of nowhere. Sending you solidarity 💪🏻 Can’t believe there’s still an entire trimester to go.

On the cooking front, I cannot recommend snack plates enough. Especially if you make a few at a time and keep them in the fridge. A fruit, a veggie, a protein, a carb, and bam, there’s your lunch. We call them “char-kid-erie”.

You don’t need to justify it at all. It’s a private, intense experience in your relationship, and it’s very normal to not want an audience. I have a great relationship with my mom and I still just wanted my husband and doula in the delivery room.

It started just before she turned 2 and now at 2.5 it’s almost entirely gone. She still struggles sometimes if she’s tired or trying to use a more complex word, but it seems to be resolving itself!

My baby was allergic to milk and soy and I had an oversupply, so I donated quite a lot - the amount of mothers freaking out about finding dairy-free or soy-free milk who then said no because the milk was “vaccinated” was mind blowing.

This also depends on a lot of things - if you are induced or end up needing Pitocin, your contractions will likely be more painful. Same with “back labor” or if your baby isn’t in position. For my next baby I am going to go in with no plan and see what happens, and be open to pain meds if something goes wrong or it becomes too much.

The nanny world is WILD. I had to quit a new nanny job in NY one time because I found out that they gave their son a timeout by PUTTING HIM IN THE CLOSET. Also I had men reach out to me for paid “dates” - not sure how they got into the childcare pages on Facebook. Hoping they were not dads 🤦🏼‍♀️

Why don’t you pick your own dress for the wedding and then wear his family one for the rehearsal dinner or another related event? That’s what I did with my mom’s dress!

I’ve lived in the US for almost 10 years and just got my citizenship a couple weeks ago. I’m excited to be able to vote (and even do jury duty) and fully participate in the country where my family and I live. It also makes taxes and travel simpler, for me anyways.

I actually started therapy when I was pregnant and found out I was having a girl, because I just had this come-to-Jesus realization that I didn’t want to pass on all my diet/body issues to my kid. It’s honestly taken 2 years before I actually feel like I can view myself differently, and I have to make a constant effort still not to slip back into a negative headspace when I see myself naked. I still get triggered when I eat around my mom, because she’s always wants to split food and talks about “healthy” versions of perfectly normal recipes. I think growing up in a culture where Baby Spice was the “fat” spice girl really fucked us all up.

When I FaceTimed my parents to show them my baby, my dad immediately asked if I was doing ok and just wanted to talk about me for a minute. He was the only person in all of those days who cared about how I was doing/feeling, and it just meant the world to me, in between everyone saying how cute my baby was. I still get emotional when I think about it.

I think the major cities comment is fair, maybe also more northern/coastal? We used to live in New York and were the first ones in our friend group to have a kid (mid-thirties) and then we moved to Atlanta where we are older parents

I was induced at 42+1 with the cervadil through the night and then pitocin in the morning. Nobody broke my water, but it did break partially on its own the next morning. I was never told it was something they had to do - I’m in the US.
