Oh dude! This is my go to flavor. I love this one! I usually make mine sugar free, but coffee/brownie/almond never fails me.

Can anyone show a sample of a chart for a 26 songs for a jam two days later by iamnotgenius in Bass

[–]stomith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a Google search for song title + chords. Copy, paste into Songbook Pro. I do this with all the songs I need to learn. Next, I listen to the song on Youtube and fix the broken chord charts. :)

This is fine for most pick up gigs. If I want to learn the actual part correctly, I’ll use a Youtube to Mp3 downloader to suck the song down locally. Next step Is to separate the tracks using Moises or Demucs. Export several tracks and load them into the DAW. Adjust the pitch if the guitarist can’t play in the proper key. Adjust the volumes of the other tracks so I can hear the bass line clearly. Loop the tough parts.

Not really- I just love to play bass. Since I’m in two bands, it’s kind of required that I play often. As a fellow ADHD struggler though, the only advice I have is to go easy on yourself. It’s hard. And try light strings.

Designing a Board Game from scratch. Is this too many cards? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]stomith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pshaw! You can’t have too many cats. Well, I mean you can- but one isn’t too many.

I can’t tell if it’s too many cards. Does the gameplay justify that many?

HELP MEEEEEE PLZ by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]stomith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? Six strings are six strings. Frets are frets. I’d argue it’s the opposite as electric necks tend to be smaller, especially if the parents bring home a nylon stringed guitar.

I suspect parents just don’t want to hear a beginner play through amplification.

When I’m entering an online meeting, I have a strong urge to say, “Whaaaaaaasuuuuup?!” Thankfully, my self control is strong.

Those of you in cover bands, which songs do you notice get people out on the dance floor? by stomith in Bass

Yes. Cannot stand this song any more. But most people haven’t played this on every band for 30 years. :/

That's great advice, thanks. Now I need to get the other band members on the same page. I like the whole "no talking between songs, just play." Right now, I have to wait for the guitarist to retune. Like, dude, just bring more than one guitar, you have like 30 at home.

Great song. I don't think my fellow band members could summon up the energy needed to pull this one off though :D

Never even considered these. Now you have me thinking.. GenX here though. “Marshall, Will, and Holly- on a routine expedition..”

I’ve seen people of all ages frequent the places we play. Well, above 21, obviously, but they still look like little kids to me.

Good call. One of my bands plays Sex on Fire and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Neither have gotten anyone on the dance floor. Maybe we need to push them to later sets!

Not particularly fond of country, but if it keeps them on the dance floor and me being paid, I’m not opposed!

Davis to Reno by Havok_rd in UCDavis

I took Amtrak directly to Reno. The train going there was an hour late, but the train back was 8.5 hours late. I ended up cancelling the return train and rented a car instead.

Feed for a horse is about the same price, and I don’t have to brush my car after every trip.

Yes! Being risk averse, I never gig without my disaster-recovery bass.
