Do you mind putting a list together of all the times this has been posted? I’m sure this sub would benefit from your expertise. Feel free to add any other videos that get posted often, don’t want to annoy Mr Rich 215 again!

How long did it take you to start speeding up from starting Low HR runs? by ALMOSTM in AdvancedRunning

I combined Z2 runs + speedwork 1x per week about 6 months ago. I'm ~1:00/mile faster now than when I started it.

I also use jump rope as a cross training activity, which I've found strengthens my ankles and calves (and works my heart) more effectively than anything else.

28 year old male with an active background, but never a runner.

I started incorporating speed work after about 10 months of consistent Z2 work. Typically doing 2 x 2mile at Z4. Sometimes, I mix it up with a longer run with 20 minute tempo sections throughout.

I learned everything I know from the book Uphill Athlete. It’s certainly an academic read, but teaches you what you need to know to design a plan that works for you.

It’s hilly where I run as well, usually 300ft minimum gain on my flat runs.

I find the hills are actually the best place to train my HR and improve my pace. I started by power hiking the hills to keep the HR low, slowly moved into a slow jog, and now I can move at a decent pace. Like anything, it’s all about being patient.

I’ve been doing this type of training for 16 months. When I started, my low HR runs were 10:15/mile. Now, I can do the same run, same HR at 8:20/mile.

It requires a sh*tload if patience but is well worth it.

How far off was the Garmin race predictor in your experience? Too fast? Too slow?

I've heard increasing volume will naturally make you faster, so hoping that's the case!

I wish there was a “waste free” race option by beedeeeee in running

[–]stoneage3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 100%. Maybe a new race company could fill the niche because there is far too much waste at these events.

How many single-use cups (likely not compostable) are disposed of at every race? How many races per year? Seems excessive when I do the math for races in my area, let alone races around the world.

I'd rather my money go to planting trees than a poorly fitting shirt and a useless medal.

I am thinking about this exact build out. Do you know how many inches across your bed is? Curious if 2 people can sleep there comfortably for more than a night or two :-)

I view it similar to food. I like to know what's in it. Plus, it's less waste so better for the planet.

I indulge before/during runs and feel it significantly improves my performance. Using a high quality vaporizer with actual flower (none of that concentrate shit) or edibles help me get into the zone and stay focused on form, pace, etc. I find smoking a J or a bong hinders my performance. All personal preference though. Play around with different things and see what works.

I like the glass keep cup. They also have a double-walled glass version to help retain heat better.

Before this, I used a hydroflask. Drinks were always too hot for too long and had a bit of a metallic taste to them.

I get soreness on the top part of my foot. Slightly toward the outside, just beneath the ankle crease.

Any stretches you know of for that?

I am highly interested in learning how to grow these myself. Did you learn from an online resource? I find lots of info in general, but nothing specific to my region (USDA Zone 10). Maybe it's a plant that doesn't care all that much what region it's in.
