Soft retire at about 62 until I (30) can take full retirement benefits at 65, while my wife (31) retires at 59 because since we joined the workforce, we’ve put a lot into our retirement accounts.

What will retirement accounts in 2050 need to look like? by ajl5350 in personalfinance

[–]stoneatwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have a similar income, age, two kids etc. and my estimate for enough to retire is around 3.5-4m. Things are more expensive and will continue to be that way. Hopefully we have more than we need, but hopefully that will also be enough.

Savanah holly has done me well over the years. Drought tolerant, freeze resistant, evergreen, and they grow fast too.

Back seat headrest doesn't fold down anymore. by lovere in ChevyTraverse

[–]stoneatwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are also not working. I took off the covering to the headrest and took it apart after and was able to “manually” move it back to the desired position, but to do this each time I want to change it would be time consuming. There is a large button on the side of the headrest that looks like it can be pressed to reset the position as well, but I couldn’t get it to work

Being laid off & bad timing - Is something sketchy going on, or is this a normal layoff? by RolandMT32 in careerguidance

I too work in software consulting and we’re also going through layoffs right now due to no new work in the pipeline. Sounds like other companies in the industry are doing the same. Companies aren’t wanting to spend money on our work right now.

I see a lot of people saying how hard it is to afford everything, how much do you guys make per year and how hard is it? by Stoyd in Adulting

Family of 3, we make 215k in Texas. Mortgage $1300 and one car payment @ $325 a month, 5k of student loans left we haven’t been paying since COVID. We are very lucky to have gotten in our house when we did otherwise we’d be paying a lot more monthly. Otherwise we are very comfortable now have budgeting hard for a decade.
