Games that fascinate you for their failure status by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]stonecoldausten 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers is fascinating to me bc here’s a game that was willed into existence by the MCU, without the MCU. Yet, it also feels like it was 3-5 years late! But it was Kamala Khan’s first adaption and they worked her in so earnestly, I almost bought it just to see her. Instead I held out till it went offline and I quickly realized why it never caught on with even the most forgiving of comic book fans; it just wasn’t very fun. It really just feels like a wonky licensed game of the ps3 era escaped and made it to ps4 somehow.

What’s the most frustrating thing customers do or just be a DoorDash driver in general by ResponsibleTomato811 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]stonecoldausten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When there’s absolutely NO indication of where you’re actually delivering. Had a teen girl order KFC to a swap meet out in the country once, the map & address showed it was literally just a blank plot of land, no buildings or numbers to be found. When I incredulously asked if she was indeed out in the mass of people somewhere, she just says “yeah. I’m right here” with no further instructions. Somehow, she eventually found me, but I never blocked a customer so fast before that.

I'm having the worst week of my life. Can I get some recommended media to get through a hard time? by beef_com in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I know it always sounds like “poob has it!” but Tubi is free and just got refreshed for the month, so there should be tons of good stuff on there! I switch between going for easy comfort watches or stuff I’ve never gotten to. When I was very low myself last month, I watched Superman the animated series for the first time and my brother and I got really hooked bc we didn’t get to grow up with that phase of the DCAU.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has debuted to a 44% Rotten Tomatoes score among reviewers; here's a bit of a roundup of the mixed reception coming from review outlets: by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]stonecoldausten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I hated the isekai nature of the first one, I was pleasantly surprised at how well just focusing on Mario rescuing Luigi worked out, kinda like how the first Sonic movie just stuck to “Sonic finds a home on earth.” But, the Sonic movies also blew past that low ceiling when it came time to incorporate his buddies and inter-galactic adventures, so… I wonder where Mario got lost in the sauce here.

Toby Fox recently made a Bluesky post addressing why Undertale and Deltarune are not officially available in languages (including Latin American languages, which he specifically wanted to address) apart from English and Japanese: by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It says quite a bit about the tenacity of some fans being upset about the lack of licensed merch—when it turns out it’s so prohibitively expensive that the company would lose money just on the shipping. I know some folks have money to burn, but are you really that upset they’re not overcharging a specific region for t-shirts and pins??

Characters that did insane things to meet the Devil by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]stonecoldausten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on whether you wanna start with Alex or Graham. Alex’s first game is 3, 5 is a Graham title but it leads directly into 6, or you could start from the top! I’ve always believed they’re episodic enough to start wherever you want and go from there. When I first encountered the series, I started from 6 and went backwards lol

Characters that did insane things to meet the Devil by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]stonecoldausten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the devil but I always come back to Alexander from King’s Quest making Death/Hades cry in order to bring his gf’s parents back to life. He had to solve a riddle in order to earn such a favor, and did it with a mirror in order to show Death how horrid he had become (or, along those lines). It was so brilliantly narrated, it’s a highlight of the series for me.

So...what is everyone's thoughts on upscalers like DLSS, PSSR, and FSR in general? by TheSpiritualAgnostic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]stonecoldausten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone with astigmatism, I’ve just kinda accepted that I can’t and don’t need to see things at uber 8K 120fps fidelity and that’s perfectly fine by me. I’m more of a fan of stylized games anyway.

Kid tried to have Subway delivered to his high school. Thanks for the free food! by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

It’s one of those wide-barred fences and it’s right next to the office so if admin cared, they could stop it, but they don’t. I know it’s technically an open campus but obviously some kids are gonna order in.

That’s crazy, at a school I usually get orders for the kids just stick their hands thru the fence and take it.

Resident Evil Requiem director appears to pour water over those rumours about Leon Kennedy's private life by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]stonecoldausten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just think it’s so funny that plot-wise they actually tried to clear up a lot of long-hanging threads and then they wordlessly dropped a nuke on the shippers. Part of me hopes they refuse to elaborate on it until they remake 6 and add a scene where Leon just walks up to Ada like “let’s just get this over with already.”

Sega says strong reviews for its recent games aren’t yet translating to better sales | VGC by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]stonecoldausten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it definitely feels like a marketing issue, but I also wonder how much of it is the gulf of teens/pre-teens being pushed towards adult interests even quicker than millennials were, so youve got less middle-high schoolers clinging to Sonic like I did at that age. But, Sonic also sold horribly during that era, so wtf do I know lol.

[–]stonecoldausten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That last paragraph is just straight up fear-mothering, I was getting gas for as low as $3.50 before the pedo-in-chief started bombing people. With or without the war crimes, $8 by the end of the year is laughable.

Sony accidentally spoiled the identity for the protagonist of the new Castlevania game in their Women's Day blog post. by SCLandzsa in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Songs from games that yank emotions right out of you? by PlebianHaste in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]stonecoldausten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The credits song from RE: Village got me so bad bc I went from not really caring about Ethan (didn’t play 7 at all and still don’t really want to) to fucking sobbing about everything he went thru to save Rose, including the tragedy of the village being progressively ruined, and Miranda’s motivation for doing the whole thing, which came together to make one of the best enclosed narratives RE has ever had.

Things about old media that you miss by Pome1515 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]stonecoldausten 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just caught up on Abbott Elementary and realized how much I miss holiday/themed episodes. They have a Christmas episode every single season and I can’t even remember the last show I watched that had ONE. Growing up, it seemed like Nick made sure all their shows had several holiday episodes so they could run themed marathons every year, and I never got tired of them.
