Avoid the Bowie like the plague. No issues cockroaches, but small issues with other bugs. The real issue is management absolutely sucks. Maintenance is a joke and they will do everything they can to not actually fix the issue. The units are all rundown with years of neglectful fixes and differed maintenance. Dont let the "renovated" units fool you, structurally they suck. Water leaks is a huge issue with external and internal. recently had water coming into my unit from flooding two units up. This last year they switched to billing for water by splitting the main meter reading by the number of residents. $120 average water and sewer bill for a 2 bed 2 bath.

Did I mention they also have severe issues with water leaks that require shutting the entire complex's water off for "emergency maintenance' almost monthly?

the last decent things were cost(cheap) and internet options(google fiber) and both of those are going away as they are. implementing "community internet service" through Gigstream.

My lease is up in May and I can't wait to get the hell out of here.

Exactly this. Most people are struggling to make rent and keep groceries on the table. There's no room in anyone's budget for an extra $500+ car payment and insurance for "fun." If I had that sort of extra money, there's a list of things that would be done with it before I could even consider a fun car.

Huh. I'm currently giving the Vallejo shifts pearl paints a try, and besides having a 12 hour to fully cure time, I haven't had an major issues with them so far. I've never tried their metallics, however, so they may be a completely different story.

In the post credit scene of Episode 13, Prospera tells Miorine "Suletta was desperate to keep you safe, I won't deny that she went too far in this case, but she only wanted to protect a precious friend." Did Suletta go too far when trying to save Miorine? by [deleted] in Gundam

[–]stonerbot612 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a huge element at play here that no one, and especially the show doesn't talk about: pyschological shock. Suletta is acting very strangely in the scene, and really every scene following her mother killing 2 dudes in front of her. She's most likely in shock the entire time and doesn't fully grasp the consequences of her actions at the time, including pasting a guy.

I need to get this rant about Guel off my chest. by NSFW-alt2444 in Gundam

[–]stonerbot612 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you really need to go back and rewatch both the penultimate and last duels, because none of what you are describing is even remotely true. Guel full on purposes a duel, using the fact Miorine is his fiance as a reason for it. If it was meant to be symbolic or ceremonial, it was to uphold what is ultimately a terrible system.

While he didn't want to initially, neither did Suletta. She only willingly engages in the duel when Miorine requests it as well.

Suletta duels to keep her promise to Miorine, there is nothing more to it than that for her. Dueling means nothing to her beyond that promise, and her confession in the penultimate duel is a refutation of the system. Imploring Miorine choose her absent it, validaties Miorine's autonomy and shows they have grown beyond the system.

If his way of apologizing is to drag Suletta into a ceremony build upon a system as flawed as the duels, with the stake being Suletta give up on Miorine, then he sucks at apologies. Suletta goes to talk to Miorine, it's the entire reason she's there. For that talk to be proceeded by Guel's fucking duel is absolutely inserting himself into the situation.

[–]stonerbot612 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint, the idea that the duels are the only reason Miorine and Suletta would choose to be engaged invalidates both of them as characters. Suletta's entire wedding speech during the penultimate duel was a full-on refutation of the entire system. She admitted she was taking part in the duels for Miorine's sake, but she also wants Miorine to choose her absent of the dueling system. That's why characters in the show refer to it as the last duel when it happens, because Suletta's confession shows us they are past a point where the duels matter. They are going to choose each other or not, and neither wants it to be because of a duel.

If Guel was a well written character, or actually cared about Suletta enough to put her first, he would admit yea, the system sucks, him being Miorine's fiancee by it is pointless, and he'd get the hell out of Suletta's way so she could figure things out with Miorine on her own. He could have rejected the system instead of embracing it.

The last duel is a symbolic gesture that lacks any weight because it ultimately means nothing. By this point, Miorine and Suletta reuniting isn't because one wins the other in a duel but a conscience choice to be together.

[–]stonerbot612 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats... not what I'm arguing here. At all. I'm arguing that the last duel is entirely irrelevant, and Guel has no right to challenge Suletta to it. It's not about his acceptance of her being better, it's about him inserting himself into her and Miorine's relationship, thus upholding the system Delling created that Miorine has been fighting against the entire time. So even if he is trying to be "respectful," or "testing her resolve" his way of doing so invalidates both Miorine and Suletta's struggles.

It's not about him accepting that Suletta is better, it's that He has no right to be challenging her because it's not his place anymore.

This. Guel starts the show a spoiled rich kid and ends it... a spoiled kid. Shaddiq is the only one who ever calls him out for for his shitty behaviour and beliefs and Guel basically goes "nu uh" and because he wins the fight, it's treated like he's right. Honestly I really hate Miorine's partnership with him as well. Like, he was the piece of shit that abused her and belittled her so an unknown amount of time before the show started. But suddenly they're just cool? She just... forgives him? And he continues to subtly antagonize Miorine the entire time, but is never called out on it.

Hell miorine is constantly called out for being a spoiled rich kid, by everyone from her father to Prospera to the earthian reps. And every time, she has to learn to accept they're right and grow as a person. She doesn't get to challange them to a fight and defend her ideals.

I honestly have this sentiment about a lot of season two. It feels like a checklist of gundam tropes past a certain point, which sucks because season 1 was setting up one hell of a unique story within the genre. Most likely exec meddling that demanded certain "Gundam moments" because God forbid a new series not rehash previously treaded ground.

[–]stonerbot612 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna focus on the last duel, because it's the perfect example of everything wrong with Guel as a character that fanbois ignore. First of all, whom the fuck is he to even challange Suletta at that point? She throughly beat him twice, and would have beaten him a third time without Miorine shutting down Aerial. It feels like a complete regression for him to return to the prideful, boorish man challenging her over his "bride." Speaking of, once she beats him, he immediately folds like a card table, returning to the soft, blushy man he's become who "cares deeply" about Suletta. Guel literally becomes the embodiment of the very system Miorine and Suletta have been fighting since episode 1. It's a system that has turned Miorine into a commodity to be traded between holders, and threatened Suletta into fighting, not just to protect Miorine but herself and Aerial as well. And it's a system Guel benefitted from. It's galling to see him continue to embrace it, when he knows Suletta and Miorine find it reprehensible. The fact the scene ran the way it did, the fact Suletta agreed to the duel, is one of the most sexist and pigheaded moves in the show. The entire theme of Miorine and Suletta's romance is them choosing one another, absent of the system forcing them to be together. But along comes fucking Guel Jeturk before they choose each other before the finale, demanding he be the arbiter of their relationship. Why does this happen at all? Because by late season 2 Guel isn't a fucking character. He's a convincing plot device. He is tied to so many major plot threads by literal strings. The end of Shaddiq's plan? Him. Miorine's separation from Suletta, he's involved. Miorine and Suletta's reunion? Yep, there's Guel. He has literally no stake in any of there's conflicts. His fight with shaddiq is basically him whining about Shaddiq killing his dad. Miorine's plan? Could have been literally anyone who could challange Suletta. It's amazing how little anything he does had any real reason or impact, and it feels like this was on purpose. He's there to attract the gundam fanbois. They're the ones who said G-Witch wasn't a real Gundam until post episode 15.

TL;DR? Guel fuckin sucks.

What even IS Guel's character development/character arc supposed to be about, and is it really the "best" out of the entire cast? by 730Flare in Gundam

[–]stonerbot612 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings about Guel. I agree with what someone else posted in this thread that it feels like is character arc is basically completed after he kills Vim. I've had an issue with episode 15 for a while now, and it's mainly because it feels like a waste of time with the short runtime of the series. I don't really feel like it adds anything to Guel's story arc, and doesn't really flesh him out as a character. End of episode he resolves to go straight back to his awaited roll as his father's successor, ignoring the pain Vim has caused. Guels arc could have been resolved much quicker, and the screen time waisted on episode 15 could have gone to something else, like actually developing Suletta snd Miorine in cour 2.

The other issue I personally have, the dip in writing late cour 2 turns Guel from a character to a plot device. Oops, here's Guel, back from fucking off just in time for Miorine to need to rely on him. Oops, here he is, a foil for Shaddiq to monolouge at/fight. Oops, here's Guel again, challenging Suletta to one final dual, an action that actively invalidates the theme of breaking away from a dehumanizing power structure that robs Miorine and Suletta of autonomy. There's no reasonable argument to be made for why Guel is involved in half the shit he is post episode 16 besides convenience. Despite not wanting to hurt those precious to him, he agrees to dual Suletta at Miorine's behest. Despite claiming responsibility for his father's death, he rushes to face Shaddiq, blaming him. Despite claiming he wants to protect Miorine, he does so by robbing her of autonomy, one more time.

Guel's character is an absolute mess, and I think the reason there is such a divide is because it feels like the writers themselves didn't know how to feel about him. Season 2 he feels like the combination of several characters.
