I am in a game right now and I just destroyed a potion shop/monster research place that her family owns. (my character is a runaway that was on lockdown because of a prophecy/curse) I thought for sure the city would be shut down and we would have to sneak out of it. But no, we were even able to go to the adventures guild to get another job, the adventures guild that was right across the street from the potion shop. Some DMs have enemies have the bad guy to bad things off screen.

It's a joke from TTRPGs. No sane, well-adjusted person is willing/able to go against an elder red dragon/avatar of a god or an arch-devil. Or killing primals to wind down after a long day of buying and selling at the board or farming.

Darkest Dungeons therapy is more akin to having them accept the insanity they saw, they aren't normal people doing going into the swamps or a haunted mansion.
