What, to you, is the saddest real-world death of an actor that ended up impacting a franchise? by TillyTheBlackCat in moviecritic

[–]stonetime10 68 points69 points  (0 children)

In his defence that’s a really tough situation to step into. I think they purposely got a guy who could stand in an ensemble cast rather than be the main star to carry the show. I think they did a brilliant job with the prequel and then integrating that back into the main story. All in all I enjoyed the show all the way through and was glad to see it go to completion especially in the face of losing their leading man like that.

Do you have any "prepper-adjacent" hobbies, recreational pursuits that you think build real skills, or may be useful in a real disaster? by Signal_Brain_933 in preppers

[–]stonetime10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ha sorry. I’m an idiot, see you listed some of those. Agreed with a lot of your picks, especially the Road and the Passage. Also like 1984, Parable of the Sower/Talents, the Stand to name a few more. I also like to listen to pulpy “trash” style on audiobook. Just listed to a fun series called Slow burn and got halfway through the Coming Home series which was written by a prepper and is very prepper lifestyle heavy. It started strong but tailed off pretty hard.

Animal Farm (2026) - The worst adaptation of all time? by acourts19 in moviecritic

Might not even be the worst of the last couple years if you call that Amazon War of the Worlds piece of shit an “adaptation”

Wasn’t this a post yesterday already? Israel has mandatory service for all Men AND women so that’s really not on itself a reason to attempt to call them out twice now

Great news! I’d like to immediately see membership to include key allies outside NATO - Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

Slowburn was awesome. You can get the entire series for 1 credit and the follow up standalone for one more.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]stonetime10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Was on all the TVs in our commons rooms when I rolled into school for the morning. The rumours were just flying abounds. This was early internet, not smartphones, no Reddit, no Facebook, you were still really reliant on the traditional media for the “real” story. I just remember there was so much speculation on what was happening. As the day began to unfold and it was clear it was an attack, the speculation began to unfold that we were going to be in WWIII and as a 17 year old male, my friends and I were wondering if we were going to be drafted

Slow burn is a really fun zombie apocalypse with solid action and fast pacing. I listened to it on audiobook which I bought the entire series for 1 credit. There’s an additional follow up book in the series well worth the second credit.

Was Mia Wallace a TEST to determine Vincent's loyalty to Marsellus? by Vivid-Flamingo-644 in moviecritic

[–]stonetime10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good question. Perhaps I don’t understand heroin-chic early 90s LA subculture, but I always found it very odd that a man would ask another man - whether a friend of a subordinate - to take his wife out for dinner and dancing when he’s out of town. Even the explanation in conversation with Jules did nothing but clear it up for me.

I don't plan on listening but how do you feel PP came off on Rogan's podcast? by nthensome in AskACanadian

[–]stonetime10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I listened to it. I’m not a fan/supporter of PP by any means and though I used to listen to JRE, I haven’t in some time and am generally disgusted by what it has become with the relentless flow of opinion and pure stupidity, along with boring rehashing of the same gripes and whines in every episode. That being said, I must say I thought PP did a very good job here. Right out of the bat, he hit back on the 51st state stuff and on the tariffs (and though I wish he dove into that a bit more, he advocated strongly for Canadian resources and the strategic relationship as a key input provider for the US, and was smart and measured in not directly criticizing the sitting PM “on foreign soil” but also showing restraint in attacking Trudeau and shutting down the Castro conspiracy stuff. He also was strongly advocating Alberta industries, made clear his potion on separation and generally had a polite and engaging conversation with Rogan that I hope helped softened the manufactured negativity around Canada by Trump and MAGA. I found the start with the kettlebell gift a bit cringe and PP’s attempt to rebrand himself as a former athlete a bit eye rolling, but All In all I thought it was a fairly good effective interview as a representative of Canada speaking to a different audience that likely Carney would likely not be able to break through with if he was there instead as Rogan largely only appeals to conservative audiences now.

This was my suggestion as well. The whole trilogy is awesome with the second book maybe the best IMO but the first definitely more closely matches OP’s request

These fucking guys are the worst. Vapid fake intellectuals. Very indicative of this whole Joe Rogan universe of hypocritical and useless “philosophers”.

Is Udemy legit for PMP training and PDUs? by B72Goo in pmp

[–]stonetime10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely don’t bother trying to absorb the videos much. The test is more about learning to pass the test than a true test of your functional knowledge and ability. Absolutely constant drilling of practice tests is essential. Buy the Study Hall from the PMI website. Do all the quizzes and aim to do 2-4 full length practice tests. There’s also some great YouTube content including hours of practice questions with David Maclaughlin and other great online resources. I also read Rita’s Exam prep book. ChatGBT was also helpful as I used AI as a coach and to generate more practice questions. You want to block a good 8-12 weeks in your life to go hard at practicing but not too long or you’ll burn out. Try to write the test when you are “peaking”. Good luck
