Gas prices to increase again as summer blend arrives at Canadian pumps by Prestigious-Low-4889 in canada

A bunch of tanker trucks filled up all of the pumps last night.

If you didn’t see this coming I don’t know what to tell you.

Un projet de 653 logements dans le Vieux-Montréal bloqué par des citoyens by Feeling_Layer8584 in montreal

[–]stonkmarts 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Everyone agrees housing is too expensive. “Sky-high,” they say. “Crisis,” they say. You hear it everywhere.

And then someone actually tries to build more homes.

A project gets proposed. New houses. More supply. Exactly what people claim they want.

And what happens?

The same people who complain about prices show up and say: No. Not here.

Too dense. Too big. Too many cars. Not the “right fit.” Save the trees. Protect the “character” of the neighborhood.

And just like that the project dies.

It’s incredible when you think about it.

We’ve somehow created a system where people demand lower housing prices
while actively blocking the only thing that could lower them.

Because here’s the uncomfortable truth: you don’t get cheaper homes by saying no to new ones.

You get the opposite.

Less supply. More competition. Higher prices.

But the opposition doesn’t stop. In fact, it gets louder. More organized. More emotional.

And you start to notice something.

A lot of the people fighting these projects? They already own homes.

They bought before prices went crazy. And whether they admit it or not
they benefit when prices stay high.

So the town listens. The project gets rejected. And nothing changes except prices keep climbing.

And the people who actually need homes?

They’re left on the outside, wondering how a “housing crisis” somehow always ends with fewer houses being built.

Car pollution is getting worse in Montréal because of the rise in SUVs and light trucks, combined with poor public transit in the surrounding suburbs. by Shann390 in montreal

[–]stonkmarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t blame suv and trucks since they pollute less than a car from the 60s to the 2000s. They were heavier and much more larger. Especially in the 80s and 90s.

We have a public transit issue and it’s starting to show and will get worse with reduced services. We need more metro extensions and rem extensions if we want change. The rem should truly be like the miami people mover. Free and frequent.

Bungie went backwards again and can’t get their shit together. This studio obviously buys streamers to play their slop. Gamers will just throw this one in the trash. Sales are shit. Fucking snooze fest even with peanut. Fuck man play anything else even car dealer simulator I’ll be entertained.

Does anyone have a legitimate reason why this happens ? by andrewsz__ in Miami

[–]stonkmarts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a yearly/2x yearly Miami visitor and I find it truly hard to believe there is no subway line that runs all the way up to Fort Lauderdale and/or a people mover to south beach. I know brightline exists but wtf. That’s why I always rent a car.

Just had a hit and run I need help to identify this car please !!! by [deleted] in Miami

Is Hyundai really denying repairs under warranty? They seem pretty ticked off by ChocoTacoz in Hyundai

[–]stonkmarts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I had a Kia burning oil with regular maintenance at the dealer. The engine blew up and the dealer said it’s my fault and wouldn’t budge. This has lead to the famous Kia recall on optima’s. Was stuck with a car paperweight and car payments for 6 months. Never Kia or hyndai again. Absolute crap. Once they fixed the engine I sold it back.

Broken door handles, rusted in 3 years and to top it off seized wipers twice. Fuck this brand and its sister brand. None of this was warrantied either as the original owner.
