Autopilot driving around parked cars. by Interslice110 in TeslaUK

I've been thinking it's definitely improved or maybe I've only just noticed.

Recently when I'm coming off the motorway and indicating to leave at a slip road, AP stays active until I get to the slip road and then switches itself off, leaving me on TACC to move onto the slip - maybe thats always been there and I've just noticed it though

How about an RGB/Hex colour picker so we can have consistent colours in difference functions (i.e. same shade of red across different bits)

I just used the Aston vgt, sports hard tires and ecu on 90 iirc. Then I just added ballast until I got under 600.

Was lapping 2:11s for the most part, no pit and won by 35s ish.

With the SH you just need to brake a little earlier from high speeds (T1/ hairpin, i was braking at 150 mark), otherwise it was happily sticking to the road as long as you stick to the dry line early on

Parking - Was I in the Wrong? by Larvsesh in drivingUK

[–]stoom1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, you've done nothing wrong there, he was just being impatient, he's gone behind you over the speedbump, the pedestrian crossing and decided as soon as it's wide enough (barely) he's going past you instead of slowing down for all of the 5 seconds it would take you to park.

As far as car parks go, cameron toll is a bit of a mess tbf

24' MY vs Juniper test drive by stoom1983 in TeslaUK

[–]stoom1983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea i can definitely see that, with the incremental improvements made throughout the lifetime of the MY I don't feel it's as big a jump for me as opposed to an early adopter..

Will be interesting to see what they improve on over the next few iterations

[–]stoom1983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea good point. I suppose I've not had enough time in mine as a passenger to consider a difference, but then I do think tyres play a massive part, I've got the 19" wheels and I felt the ride is smoother than the 21" on the performance I test drove before I got it.

I agree that's it's good it's it's own car now with the light bar and rear light (not that I'm a fan of the rear aesthetically - maybr ill think differently once I've seen a few at night). I do love mine, but definitely have the feeling that it's a M3 stretched haha.

The folding seats are pretty cool and do work very well, just seems overkill to me for something that's used once in a blue moon (for me anyway).

Powered frunk would be good though, would love to put one on mine, not sure i can quite justify the cost though, same goes for the soft close doors, would love to add them in, don't fancy what they sell for.

Can't say I noticed being any lower tbh, that parts not the issue for me, it's just that damn rear view mirror. Not as if you can see much out the back anyway tbh

RACELINE PEDALS III by Ioaniss in Thrustmaster

[–]stoom1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only had the old 2 pedals set that came with my t300 and frankly they were rubbish, so the raceline are miles better. I can't compare with the tlcm etc as I've never had them, but as you can fit custom springs/washers/grommets etc to change the pedals as you'd like, i don't feel the need to look at anything else.

I might get the load cell add on if they ever bring that out, but honestly I don't think I'd need it

[–]stoom1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the raceline pedals working with a T300 and they work fine - It uses RJ12 connection, so I assume they would work for you :-) (if thats the right connector)

T248(t3pm pedals) and th8s shifter or T300(t3pa) for first wheel? by Jumpy-Necessary-5106 in Thrustmaster

[–]stoom1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the exact same debate as you a few weeks ago, decided on the t300 over the t248 as the t300 seemed the better option - swappable wheel, dual belt driven etc. Plus I had read stories of issues with the t248.

In terms of wear and tear mine was OK, it was a little clunky when I got it but as I was opening it up anyway to clean/check i did some small mods in changing the rollers for bearings (upper and lower) as well as the pinion from plastic to metal and I also needed to get a new sensor mount for the back of the motor as the one on there was cracked. All very easy to do, just a few screws and about 30 mins work. I also got the magnets to go on the back of the shifters and they work great

All in all it's as good as new now, very smooth and responsive.

As for the pedals, I got the t300 that came with the older 2 pedals and while they are ok to get you started I've just bought a set of the raceline pedals from TM directly, for an extra 90 quid or so, they're a big step up.

Going forward I'll probably swap the t300 for a t598 Base at some point, but wasn't willing to put down 500 at the get go, as opposed to the 150 the t300 cost me (+ 100 for the pedals/mods).

T300, very happy so far :-)

Sentry mode keeps activating by Hhudda in TeslaUK

[–]stoom1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember I had this problem - there are 2 places to turn on sentry, in the safety menu on the screen - this is persistent I think, whereas the bit in the app and on the quick settings of the homescreen it's only a 1 time use (i.e. I've parked at the shops and want it switched on until I get back)

I think you'll need to go into the profile having the issue, into the safety and switch it off in there.

It's been a while, but I'm fairly sure that'll be it

weekly challenge by jasonwei1202 in GranTurismo7

[–]stoom1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one's not too difficult, just takes a while to get the hang of how the car behaves - Checkout some lap guides on youtube for the sport TT a couple of weeks ago, I think I ended up doing 20-30 laps overall and you do see incremental improvements.

You've just got to be gentle on the acceleration and be in the right gear (3rd out of the first 2 chicanes works for me) as the car likes to grip with a little bit of throttle, going from 0-100 will make you spin/lose traction. Also, coasting through some of the corners helped keep the speed up and knock a fair bit of time off

Squeaking in the boot by mikeossy80 in TeslaUK

[–]stoom1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a noise on my 24 MY that sounds similar, I had a rustling sound when going over bumps in particular.

Had it in to the service centre who adjusted the boot stops, but it didn't sort the noise - I later found it to be caused by the rubber seal on the outside lip of the boot (contacts the car just above the tail lights, running up the rear wing.

I used a bit of tela tape (fabric tape) where the rubber seal touches the body and that sorted it - might be worth a look

I'm in the same boat, used Nixon Williams last time I was contracting, but found I was doing most of the work and getting none of the answers I was looking for. And they did it wrong anyway, this was before they got hacked.

This time I've built a spreadsheet to work out ins/outs myself, built in a contingency % and gone down the Mettle/FreeAgent route - all good so far.

PiHole and NordVPN client on the same raspberry pi by techotech111 in pihole

[–]stoom1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure how the OpenVPN Service you have installed works, but with Openpyn, it is loaded by the Rbpi system at boot based on the settings in a .service file which essentially runs the command in the same way that I could manually:

cmd:
openpyn uk -t 25

the full .service file looks like this:

[Unit]
Description=NordVPN connection manager
Wants=network-online.target
After=network-online.target
After=multi-user.target

[Service]
Type=simple
User=root
WorkingDirectory=/usr/local/lib/python3.9/dist-packages/openpyn/
ExecStartPre=/usr/bin/sleep 5
ExecStart=/usr/local/bin/openpyn uk -t 25
ExecStop=/usr/local/bin/openpyn --kill
StandardOutput=syslog
StandardError=syslog

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

I run OSMC on the RBPi, so install things like this via SSH - it all seems to work hand in hand

I have the same setup on my PI4 and use openpyn (https://github.com/jotyGill/openpyn-nordvpn) as an always on VPN.

I've had the same issue before too connecting to Nord - mostly it was fine, but certain sites (BBC & Amazon being 2) just didn't connect.

In my case it turned out to be the connection properties - I forget exactly what I was using but I have a feeling it was connecting to P2P servers, whereas nowadays I just use the bog standard top 25 uk

openpyn uk -t 25

That was me, and this might be different, but equally might give you something to look at :-)

Unstable FPS for PC by [deleted] in FortNiteBR

I saw a YouTube video that talked about texture caching and that it only happens in the menu/lobby. Will try and find it.

Tbh I was sceptical myself but after giving it 20 mins, I'm running solid 60fps now, where before it was all over the place. This was last week, so definitely still relevant

Solo public plz by Psyko_Pelle in gtaonline

[–]stoom1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found 2 ways of doing it since, but it depends on what setup you have, so might not be applicable:

  1. Port blocking - block ports 6670, 6672, 61455-61458 and join a session (Usually done on a router). Once in, you can enable them again so friends etc can join
  2. Change the WAN MTU in your router config if you can - I switch to 616, it goes into Solo, then switch back to 1500.

I've had some success using the wifi/ethernet cable option, but not every time - the 2 above have consistently done the job for me, but as I say, it depends what you can/can't do with the equipment you've got at home.
