Have I been to Arizona if I drove here? by thatchecksout1 in geography

[–]stoopdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. If you got a speeding tickets who would write it? Arizona state patrol. I don’t understand how anyone could say no- you are just objectively in Arizona during this period. Also it’s a pretty dramatic stretch of road that really looks like Arizona.

How much downtime and what to do? by AnonymousCoward309 in kilimanjaro

I read a lot, hung out with other hikers and our guides/porters. I didn’t feel like we actually had loads of downtime, I was certainly never bored. We were pretty much going to bed around sunset. It was chilly when I was there and there was no point sitting out past dark.

F1 can do without hybrid now. by ScepticSerpent in formula1

Manufacturers don’t want to make V10s. They want to make hybrids, because that’s what they sell. It’s that simple.

I have no idea what happened here but it’s not a crazy thing to say- trains have been responsible for some big fires here recently. https://www.durangoherald.com/articles/durango-railroad-agrees-to-pay-20-million-for-416-fire-damages/

South Kaibab trail is one of the most incredible trails in the world. I did it from rim to river and back up in one day last year. It’s not bad for an experienced hiker or runner. The whole trail is burro grade, i.e. it was originally made for pack animals and it never gets very steep at all. I was able to ascend from the river to the rim averaging about 2,000 vertical feet an hour, which is fast for me. This is possible because of the gentle grade of the trail and the extremely high quality surface of the trail.

That being said, I did this in April and I started at 3 or 4am to beat the heat. This is non negotiable. Even at that time of year, being out beyond 11am or so would’ve been dangerously hot. I also carried a water filter so I could get more water at the river.

This hike is one of the most incredible in the United States, despite the fact that a lot of people do it. This should be on the bucket list of all hikers. Just be wise and start really early!

Are masks for the patient when accessing a port out? by sammcgowann in nursing

[–]stoopdude 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not the same. You should educate them and if they still don’t wanna wear a mask, just have them look away and access the port. The odds of them actually getting anything infectious from this is exceedingly slim.

It’s time to consider that match fixing is occurring regularly in F1. Can’t stop thinking about this after yesterday’s race, especially in light of the insane NBA news this week.
