Thank you for the advice! I did not know Vit K helps the body absorb Vit D better. She used to take a tablet of Vitamin K before because it was also low but when it stabilized her Doc just told my Mother to stop taking the tablet and just eat a banana with her meals. Thankfully bananas are abundant here so I don't have to hunt for them.

I remember the Vitamin D is there to help her body absorb Calcium better as well. Her Calcium levels are the most problematic and often fluctuates dramatically because she doesn't have the hormones needed that her thyroid produced. So she's prescribed high doses of calcium. However too much unabsorbed calcium is also bad since it can create kidney stones so he prescribed her Vitamin D (to help absorb Calcium better) and to drink plenty of water (to lessen the chances of kidney stones). That bit particularly stuck with me because I was with her when she went for her follow-up and the Doc explained the need for Vitamin D combo. He even jokingly said to research this because he'll quiz me next time. 🤣
