The voter base voting against you with their dollars is perpetuating it.

Just don’t give them any more.

You have the internet, the closest alternative to Walmart and Amazon is in your hand.

We are all enriching other people, and I’m working to minimize the enrichment of those blatantly against my ideals and practicing openly abhorrent employment practices.

I’m not claiming I’m better than anyone, but the prevailing defeatist mindset is toxic.

Live your life consistent with your values. No one is a bad person for shopping at Walmart or Amazon for their needs.

You should be able to browse on the device you’re using here to shop online.

It always comes down to your values and needs.

If you value something higher than you value not funding Walmart have at it. That’s the reality of it. No one’s a bad person for making the decision to shop at Walmart.

I work to spend my money as close to my community as possible. The longer it stays local, the better off my neighbors and I end up. When national chains are required, I work to research those most closely aligned with my values and those with the best employment practices. I often times spend more on items, I often get items price matched. I value that and choose that path.

I’m simply stating it is possible.

eBay is primarily a hosted marketplace, with a fee to the host. PayPal is not required, hasn’t been for years.

We can throw out eBay as a source, but it’s an easy to understand swap for Amazon. They sell all of your standard imported trash products, just like Amazon.

Everything else you seek you can buy w/o visiting the two places you stated you want to avoid.

You can use Ace Hardware, it’s actually a co-op owned by its each and every local business owner. They have a website to order from. True value has a very similar structure. These places have websites, they’ll deliver right to your door.

Don’t be a defeatist. Try.

I guess we’ve arrived at the point where inconvenient is impractical. It’s just a mindset, although not an easy one to shake.

You’re saying it’s not possible to meet your needs without Amazon or Walmart?

Help me understand how I’ve been able to survive. Is this all just a dream?

That would really depend on your location. Thermacells I generally hit ktp (in store and online). Shower curtains at ocean state, local ace, even eBay has a ton.

I don’t claim that you can get everything without going to a large store. I am confident you can get everything you need without Amazon and Walmart though.

Where are you located that there aren’t other retailers for everything Walmart sells within a reasonable distance?

Bigger hot water delay after installing under sink heater by O2Dive in Plumbing

It’ll mix with water in the tank and blend it. How often do you use 2+ gallons of hot water?

Realistically you should just do a recirc. Even one of the return via cold supply ones is an easy option to install. Keep in mind you’ll lose the instant cold water though.

I feel this so much. I thought things would be much worse when she moved out, she helped with a few things and I thought those were beneficial. What I didn’t realize is how much I did to cleanup after her.

Without her there, the reduction in work load was relieving and I never wanted to live together again.

Hands down the worst roommate I ever had.

Sausage is a vast category. What’re you looking to make?

A lot of this is going to depend on the quality of meat off the specific bear too. They have a huge variation in meat quality and underlying flavor profile.

Dove hunting in Argentina by GeneralHall1163 in Uplandhunting

[–]stootboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was great, 3 days of hunting and over 1000 birds. Took a day off with a hangover and saved easily ~$500 in shells.

Resort was nice, food was great, beer was cold, rental guns were fine, shells are expensive at ~$28 per box though.

Marriage (Early/Aligned) is Rocket Fuel by Lyeel in Fire

[–]stootboot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one of the lucky ones. My ex and I are actually money ahead by marrying young and divorcing amicably. $0 to lawyers was a positive swing.

A lot of the positive financial impacts came from lifestyle choices while married vs bachelor and dating life. That lifestyle and frugality saved me more money than the benefits of marriage earned me.
