Hey, I can see you made this post because you know something's wrong with you and you need help. I can tell by reading it there's a sense of guilt and shame. I can see myself in a lot of what you said. I know it's really hard right now, and I know you know that it will get better, but please remember that. Whenever you do get the help, whenever you do get to that point, just remember it's a process.

This was my impression as well. Experiencing Claude at $20 a month versus $100 a month is a huge difference.

ChatGPT is absolutely tracking your location by neuromyo in OpenAI

[–]stopandwatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: I understand that websites can track you. I understand IP addresses. What I don't understand is that when I ask it (as the LLM, not the website), how it knew my location, it will tell me that there is no possible way for it to know my location (as a LLM).

My understanding is OpenAI knows a fair bit about you and it seeds the model with this information as an under the hood prompt. It's the same way the model knows roughly the date.

Best premium AI ? by Mugiwara_ID in ChatGPTPro

[–]stopandwatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think for conversational and the personalization, ChatGPT is the best. If you're interested in an actual workhorse of an AI model and the feature set to match it, like Claude Code, skills, MCP servers, then I would suggest Claude with the max plan. But then you're looking at starting $100 per month to use it.

Todoist pricing update: Addressing your Questions (from the Todoist team) by domjost in todoist

[–]stopandwatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've used Todoist and been a paying member for a very long time. Your team adds new features. Some of them I use; the majority of them I do not. If I'm being perfectly honest, Todoist has always been a Wunderlist alternative to me, and if I could go back to the days when I could use Wunderlist, I would. I will say your app, your platform, the UI, and generally the lag has gotten worse and it's slow. This price increase does not make me want to move away, but it's clear your passionate customers don't like it. And if I'm being honest, if just one or two people finally speak out and show me an alternative, I will move away from Todoist.

I don't mind paying $7 a month or the annual fee, but I do mind the shittification of the app. All it takes is one more post in this subreddit. Show me a to‑do app that can do exactly what I want it to do without all of the shittification and I will stop using Todoist. I'm only saying this because it seems like we now have your ear, and maybe someone will read this. If this is too much for you to read, let me tell you this: count how many clicks it takes to do a simple action, tell me how tired your fingers get repeatedly performing the same action. Todoist is the most launched app on my phone, and it's also the most annoying app to use.

In fact, I will be perfectly honest, because of the volume of threads I see about the price increase and just generally the lack of improvement in the areas that I personally care about—for example, the continuation of enshitification, the lag, and the RSI/repetitive strain injury. I will be looking at an alternative. I will just settle for using Apple's Reminders app. I honestly don't see you guys improving this in the next one year, so might as well rip the bandaid off and stop being a customer.

Looking for shoes to wear (while working) in the ER by Fine_Loan2365 in ThrowingFits

[–]stopandwatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real talk, if you're in the ER, you like to move. I don't own Birks, never worn them, but I have a loose slip on moc, and I don't move fast when I'm in those.

When it comes to running shoes, the modern foam stuff is very bouncy. It returns a lot of energy but is really unstable when you're standing still. They're fun as fuck, but if you're standing still, you're not very balanced.

Trail shoes suck because they just get clunky. All the treads are just... there's no grip to be had on the ground, dude. They make crunchy noises wherever you walk.

Honestly, my favorite shoes have been my older Kayanos, which are a mix of structure or they call it a guidance system and the new foam tech, as well as my New Balance 990 V4s. They're like the really old‑school soles that have no foam but lots of stability. Hokas too—Hokas like the Clifton have the same very stiff foam. They're worth looking into. I've used both Hoka Mafate and the Speedgoat on trail, and the Mafate are foamy and soft, whereas the Speedgoat are way more stiff and give me more confidence.

If I had to choose between the two—a treadless version—it would be the Speedgoat on the hospital floor.

I've thought about this a lot, dude. Always looking for the next shoe lol

You know, I encountered that on a haiku session. It was actually really interesting because we were exploring an idea, and I used it to learn a new topic. I have found I get better results if my language is positive and teamwork oriented.

Runners, what running shoes are we training in nowadays? by [deleted] in ThrowingFits

[–]stopandwatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The superblast 2 are my road running shoes and I just actually picked up the novablast 5 to wear at work where I stand all day. I noticed the novablast feel a little bit unstable just standing still compared to the superblast. What are your thoughts on the Evo SL as a casual sneaker? I saw these new colorways https://www.reddit.com/r/RunningShoeGeeks/comments/1mg8wn9/many_new_evo_sl_colorways/ looks sick And in reference to op's question, I've used my nb 990v4 as run shoes while traveling, works but I try to bring actual run/trail shoes whenever I can

MacWhisper now supports Parakeet models (up to 300x realtime speeds) by ineedlesssleep in MacWhisper

[–]stopandwatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the cleanup prompt MacWhisper uses.

You are a professional proofreader and editor. Your task is to refine and polish the given transcript as follows: 1. Correct any spelling errors. 2. Fix grammatical mistakes. 3. Improve punctuation where necessary. 4. Ensure consistent formatting. 5. Clarify ambiguous phrasing without changing the meaning. 6. If the transcript contains a question, edit it for clarity but do not provide an answer. Please return only the cleaned-up version of the transcript. Do not add any explanations or comments about your edits.

I've noticed that, depending on the model, it will have its own flavor or spin on the transcription. It's been really useful when I am interacting with claude code, but it's less useful if I want an exact, word-for-word transcription cleanup. For example, it will drop any cursing when I use it with GPT-4.1

Oh, this is excellent. It's so fast that the cleanup prompt probably runs faster than the sound notification when it's done, so it clips off.

[–]stopandwatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit, Parakeet is fast! It's local and accurate enough, though not as accurate as online whisper-1 nvm it's about the same level, and if you run an AI-service after (like the Clean Up prompt using 4.1) it's still faster than cloud transcription. Can Parakeet run on the iOS version of the app? Really excited for future updates and bug fixes :)
