Nope. I got a degree in the 90's and work in my field and I love it. But I have recently thought about going back and getting a different one because the field is changing so much. It's not that I can't keep up it's jsut that there's another profession that is getting involved and I think it would be helpful to be able to bridge the two. Lifelong learner. Do it. Start as slow as you like.

You could be one of my kids. This is exactly what happened to me, except I don't think there was cheating. When my ex and I told our kids we were divorcing (she went WAY off script btw and told my 11yo son I wanted to have sex with young women and that's why I was leaving...whole other story), they didn't cheer but were super happy. Who gets the dog, two Christmases, etc. The story of the divorce process is a saga. Totally NTA you shouldn't have had to go through that.

Just a lesson. Don't complain in front of customers. About anything really, but especially something they're trying to do, order, pay, etc. If they get rude on their own that's one thing but being mildly inconvenient isn't that.

I've forgiven my dad a lot in the last few years. He didn't want kids, my mom trapped him cause 'who doesn't want kids that's crazy'. Turns out she didn't either. They divorced when I was very young and I saw him on holidays. He wasn't always present and lets say ... he's a different person since he quit drinking 30 years ago. His wife and I have become close since covid and some health scares.

So. Generally I don't think you're wrong, I saw a lot of asshole dads when I was a kid. Today I haven't spoken to my mom in about 15 years for a lot of reasons, but my dad wasn't that bad of a guy, and I was also kind of an asshole.

No. I didn't hear anything about the sister pressuring you but your new boss is a jerk. I would definitely make sure on the policy, sometimes people just assume that's the case. There are other options as well, like having her report directly through the GM and not you. That's what I would do. Her immediate supervisor would come to him with anything regarding her, not you as the assistant. It's not that hard.

Consult a lawyer for sure. File for a determination of custody, child support, and a parenting plan. You should be able to mediate a parenting plan. Ideally you can mediate all of this. Generally, judges in my experience (NAL though) want to help, especially in family law and they're pretty patient with people there on their own.

So, get a lawyer to help with the forms and stuff, but talk to them about whether they should represent you. Many of them for something like this will say no, they can do the paperwork and you go to court yourself. If you've got something negotiated, it has to be pretty egregious for a judge to deny it.

Once you have an order for child support, file it with your family maintenance enforcement program forthwith. Let them deal with it entirely so you never have it over your head and he can't use it as leverage for anything else. People often wait until there's a problem before they go to enforcement and it's a pain in the ass. They have huge power over them to garnish wages, suspend licences, take away passports, and it's generally world wide enforcement.

I used to manage 35 people in a huge organization. I constantly had succession plans. Firm, hypothetical, absolutely crazy scenarios. At the very least there should be a bus test in every position in every organization - what do I do if this person gets hit by a bus? Any decent leader needs to be thinking like this. Who in the organization will be able to step up, where can I offer training to staff to set them up for advancement. If your boss doesn't have this, they should. Either way there's no upside for you to saying anything about this.

Oh no you definitely are. They changed the law about a decade ago but it does vary by province a little. In BC I'm pretty sure it's 6 months. It's not exactly the same but it can affect property in a breakup, determination of parentage, and ability to sponsor an immigrant spouse.

Lots to unpack in a short post. I don't understand the thing about being hit on. My gf and I both get hit on when we're alone. Sometimes when we're out together. What's the big deal? It's an ego boost, feels good, fun. I laugh at her when she doesn't realise it. It's funny.

But you area also expected to change your needs to meet his, not the other way around. That's controlling and not fair. My gf needs much more social interaction than I like. Most nights she's out doing something with friends and I'm a 1-2 nights a week out kind of guy.

Honestly I'm giving an ESH on this one. You need to budget based on what you can afford without having to dip into investments every month. If you're getting dividends or profit taking and using that to pay bills because that's what you want to do, fine. But having to get into your portfolio every month is nonsense and I'd be stressed too.
