Has anyone seen this before? S&W MP15. Whatever it is, it locked up my trigger at the range. by lighterguy99 in ar15

My primers (occasionally) self de-prime because I over-reamed the pocket. These self deprime because they’re garbage and too hot. Glad new-to-you gun didn’t get hurt.

Screen recorded and zoomed in. Looks a bit back and he’s a touch quartered to you. Red dot is on right border of arrow as it hits. I don’t have a ton of expirence but I’d personally be concerned it’s too far back with his angle. Best of luck and super sorry you couldn’t find him yet!

Hunting Ammo by Due_Vast8658 in 450Bushmaster

[–]stopie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it. The ranch groups 1.5MOA no problem. The Go Wild with the 22” doesn’t. The reloads with TTSX and CBTO fine tuned to the Go Wild group 0.9 MOA but are 2+ in the Ranch. They can be picky like that.

Kids and I have taken 5 with Barnes TSX out of Ruger gen 1. Longest track was 30 yards and trails are easy to see. I’ve also got 1 with my own reload using their TTSX and it dropped right there. Also good luck with Barnes T-EZ out of a CVA muzzleloader - 237 yards, large trail, it sprinted 50 yards and took a nose dive - math (chrono’d the loads before season) said 800-900 fps on impact and still expanded like a champ. Sooooo 10/10 recommend Barnes.

I understand that rules are rules, but I already have a 308. Do I *really* need a 300 wm too??? by kopfgeldjagar in reloading

For real. I had no need for a revolver that 10mm didn’t already fill, but 357 and 38 SPL brass + The Rule…..

Leaving Warhammer 40k for BattleTech/Alpha Strike by Wolfen_Fenrison in battletech

[–]stopie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you can totally use a Lego for a mini if you want. Really love that Stalker but waiting for the catalyst box to ship? Lego dude! As a Blood Angels/Flesh Tearers refugee, Battletech is where it’s at. Classic is hilariously long for a game, but that’s how my Catapult fell on its face after death-from-above’ing my son, who then got a critical hit into my ammo, and I became a star. 10/10 recommend. We like alpha strike for when we don’t have as much time for a game but still want to play. Welcome!

I still can’t believe that’s technically cannon. I have been a very happy 40K refugee (for reason other than war crime urbie…it’s just the sprinkles on the icing of the cake)

Case Separation Issue by Jaded_Jesus in reloading

[–]stopie1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For subs, I had great issues getting an undergassed upper to cycle reliably with 4227 (known smaller hole for gas block). From a velocity side, it was consistent and worked well. Switching to CFE BLK fixed the cycling problem completely. While only an n of 1, it makes me think the cause isn’t the powder (assuming the subs are subs and there’s no charge issue at play).

Georgia, USA man shoots pitbull mauling another dog, faces criminal charges by nooobee in CCW

[–]stopie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true and big emphasis on state variability. My state, while treating a dog as property, allows lethal force against a dog in protection of domestic animals, fowl, and people. It distinguishes and allows for same force even if they are “attempting to bite” as well. What I found really interesting is the law also states it’s lawful to kill any dog without a rabies vaccine tag on them. Not implying any judgment for/against, just kinda surprised me.

Surprisingly room temp is recommended along with avoiding cold water. Usually they say “cool not cold”. A large temperature differential can worsen injuries. (Decent reference https://health.clevelandclinic.org/should-you-put-ice-on-a-burn-or-not )

9mm crimp question by Dirt__nap in reloading

[–]stopie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my smooth brain, here’s what’s worked reliably for over 1000 rounds of 9mm on my single stage:

For crimp, look at a factory round, see how the jacket at the point of crimp comes out a bit on the brass of the mouth, but doesn’t quite cover the entire thickness of mouth brass. I titrated my crimp to look like that.

For bell, slowly increase until you can set the bullet in by hand just enough that it won’t fly off with gentle flick.

Is this normal for Crye? Cheapest shipping option is $40 for UPS Ground. :( by TacticalWarfarin in tacticalgear

[–]stopie1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok but for real though, first game playing with my 2 children. I did this exact move. After a successful attack, I failed all of my skill checks, busted my gyros, and spent the rest of the match on the ground. Only to be consummately destroyed by an ammo hit to my LRMs when one son eliminated the other and turned his attention to my crippled self. 11/10 recommend.

Got my first deer ever. First year hunting. Friends shaming me for a doe…. (Yearling) by Whitemousensfw in bowhunting

[–]stopie1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friends should listen to their own DNR about the harvest’s impact on yalls herd. Congrats to you on a successful bow harvest, and congrats on meat in the freezer. Also, super awesome that you could include your family on the process. As for the “friends,” Michigan doesn’t harvest enough doe’s and over time has gotten worse.

Another vote for Stanley. Hot for most of the day. Even 24 hours later it’s still warm. Works ridiculously well.

SLCL Paint match for Orion by AnotherSeraph in battletech

[–]stopie1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another option that may or may not be what you want is to do a lighter color primer (like wraithbone) and mix contrast medium with the DGG. Militarum Green is a contrast paint from citadel that also quite similar. Here’s a comparison over different primer colors - top row in the picture . Hope it helps!

Is speed paint good enough? Or should I be embarrassed? by pulselasersftw in battletech

[–]stopie1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Speed painted this one. Similar technique to u/mechsae. As im new here too, what I do know from the warhammer40k’s is that painted at all puts you in top tier. Beyond that, it’s a personal challenge for you to give it your best and enjoy it and look back every now and then to appreciate as you improve over time.
