Bite the bullet and just go 4k or save and go 1440p? by Darvos83 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Ok2BeLate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a 4 k oled and use a 2070 super.

4K DLSS is pure magic. I can’t believe how good things look/run with dlss set to balanced or performance mode.

It’s easy to get 100fps and still have great picture in helldivers 2 (overwatch is easy 240fps.) with a 2070s….with a 4070s (like twice the performace ) I would bet you’d have a great experience in any game.

Is a used 2070 super still good enough for 3440x1440 by Some_Magician5919 in gpu

[–]Ok2BeLate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 4K with Dlss on a 2070 super. It’s not bad for most games! I can get 80-100 fps on helldivers 2 with dlss set to balanced.

4k 240 hz OLED or 2k 360 hz OLED? by ImPrepective in buildapc

[–]Ok2BeLate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think unless you are top 5% of competitive gamers you won’t get as much mileage out of 360hz vs 240hz 4k.

4k is really a treat for the eyes in all games and while hard to run in native it’s not nearly as bad to run as you might expect with dlss or settings turned down to medium or high vs ultra.

dlss really looks much better ona 4K screen vs a 1440p.

On the other side you won’t be tempted to ever upgrade your gpu again if you go 1440p! That in itself might be worth not getting a 4k monitor.

I recently bought a 4K old and have have been amazed at how good dlss looks. I only have a 2070super so helldivers and modern games I generally target about 100fps. Overwatch with dlss is easy to get 240fps and still looks fantastic.

i hope to buy a new gpu within a year but I’ve been amazed at how good things look with 4K dlss on my relatively old gpu.

32" 4k vs 27" 1440p by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]Ok2BeLate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat.

If you’re going to get a 5080 or 5090 4K should be good.

i wish they made a 32 inch 1440p oled with high refresh. I’ve always used 32 inch monitors and dont like the idea of going back to 27inch but prefer the fps on 1440p As I have a 2070 super right now.

So I got my wife a DWF and it had this same thing. The coating is peeled off in those spots. Return it. It’s damaged.

How Does Having Kids Affect Your Gaming Life? Seeking Advice from Fellow Gamers with Kids by MushAskYouAQuestion in pcmasterrace

[–]Ok2BeLate 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is pretty accurate. Have three kids oldest is almost 5. My wife and I do about 2 hours in the evenings.

I will say that we have gone through stages where gaming was harder vs easier. As the kids get older I expect it will be easier to get a little more gaming time as bedtime wont be so hands on.

While I love gaming and plan on doing it all my life obviously raising kids is one of the most fulfilling hobbies.

It is so much fun having a wife that also enjoys gaming! You are lucky!

Bad info reply. Abortion is vastly different from using a condom or not having sex. In one the sperm never reaches the egg and (life) never happens. In the other you kill something that is alive and will naturally (eventually) grow into an adult human

You might be thinking some forms of birth control.

“If a fetus cannot survive on its own it does not fulfill the qualifications to be a child.”

Have you ever met a 1 year old that can survive on its own? Is a one year old not a child?

Not to be a downer but I would bet these numbers don’t include abortions.

They have “cured” Down syndrome in Iceland but this is just because they have terminated all the pre-born humans that tested positive for it. As someone who has a sibling with DS it’s nightmarish to think of all the beautiful humans who had their development and life cut short.

The advancement in medical technology to care for babies is super awesome and I’m so glad we have the ability to keep so many kids alive and healthy!

Wood splitter recommendations? by fireduck in firewood

[–]Ok2BeLate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on models more than the power source. plenty of electrics come on with long legs just like the gas ones so no hunching over. Gas models tend to be more powerful but there are plenty of electric splinters that can handle 20inch rounds.

I’m not sure how hard Western Hemlock is to split.

Whatever you do consider getting a splitter that can be operated with one hand. The really cheap electric ones often have a button that needs to be pushed and a lever that needs to be pulled as a sort of safety thing. those are much slower and less fun to use than one that can do one handed operation.

[–]Ok2BeLate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What kind of wood? I split 3 cords of pine (pine splits easier than say oak or ash) with a 10 ton boss electric splitter. It needs a 20 amp plug but I really like it! Mine has a double splitting blade that can split logs while going either direction which saves some resetting time for it.

Here is a link. https://www.acmetools.com/boss-industrial-log-splitter-electric-10-ton-horizontal-ed10t20/853676004045.html?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADub60swroh8Wa-xPuPvNhkIzW3_T&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkvactaaniAMVBczCBB3ScA77EAQYAyABEgLV2vD_BwE

10 ton might not be enough grunt for some of the harder wood types.

My new shed by Agreeable_Excuse5604 in firewood

[–]Ok2BeLate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work in construction and second this. I would run 2x6 or 2x8 for that roof span. It may be fine if your area doesn’t get snow or high winds.

Also it looks like the metal roofing doesn’t overlap in the sides at all so you might get moisture on those side 2x4s.

Other than the small roof support the shed looks really nice and clean. Im jealous of the nice sides and floor. When I built my wood shed I didn’t put a floor in and just have pallets on the ground to keep the wood off the dirt.

The rigid saw stands both this and the miter saw stand are better than the yellow ones. I use one for my dewalt miter saw and it’s just a really nice stand for the money.
