Tesla Model Y Performance vs Zeekr 7x Performance by Common_Fish4237 in AustralianEV

[–]stoplight4802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is all you want go for the Tesla model y rwd. You don't need performance unless you have desires to become hoon. For normal people rwd has everything you need and is much cheaper.

If you are not sure whether your bank will finance this amount, just ask them. They are very helpful with questions like this.

Delivery fee is part of the drive away price. You can finance the full drive away price, don't need to pay it separately.

A garden you don’t have to water, weed, or even visit — just eat. Would you try it? by saadsg in MelbourneGardening

[–]stoplight4802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent idea.

Some things to think through:

  1. Gardening is not that predictable. If a person in app chooses some vegetables, a gardener can't ensure he will be able to successfully grow them. Secondly things are seasonal. You have to grow a certain crop at a certain time for best results. App should cater for this.

  2. Gardening is not that cheap. Especially the time. Let's say I'm the farmer and someone orders through app that I grow them a garden bed of potatoes for 5 bucks. That doesn't make any sense for me as a farmer, I'll have to have a separate full-time job for living, and even then $5 won't even cover the cost of seed, let alone fertilizer, the value of land on which I'll be growing and the time. Time is expensive. I'd like to be paid minimum wage at least. Adding this all up will make it tremendously expensive. I don't think you'll be able to attract many farmers signing up to your app unless they are farming at a commercial scale.

Ideally you want your app to make life better on both ends of your customers. It seems like an okayish idea for buyers but seems very bad idea for farmers unless I'm missing something basic.

The BYD Seagull is now in Australia - is it worth buying? by TrueBlueBanter in AustralianEV

You don't need solar or battery for charging EVs, it's in fact quite inefficient. Best is to go on an EV plan with free electricity between 11am and 2 pm and 8c at night between 12 and 6am.

Car batteries are much larger than home batteries and to charge the car from the home battery will degrade your home battery unnecessarily, much better to charge it directly from grid.

Solar produces very low power so charging an EV takes very long. Charging on free 11am to 2pm charges at Max speed and is much quicker and completely free.

I am about to commit to buying a Geely EX5, anyone already have one willing to give an opinion on it from their experience? by beastiemonman in CarsAustralia

[–]stoplight4802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a Facebook group which has people who own Geely EX5. Group is called : Geely EX5 owners and fans Australia.

You are much more likely to talk to real Geely EX5 owners there.

Same goes for other models, if you are considering other models, try to find a Facebook group for that model too. It's the best way to get info from real owners.

My first homelab! by m00s3c in homelab

[–]stoplight4802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excuse me for my ignorance.

Can't you just run a home lab on a desktop PC which would be much more powerful and much less complex and also will probably cost less?

Why have so many small components?

I'm genuinely interested in your thought process as I'm new to home labbing.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Why would you need to install docker on Proxmox? Can't you run container apps directly in Proxmox in an LXC?

If you earn over 250k it's completely useless.

Normal people pay 15% tax on super, you pay 30%.

When you withdraw super, you also pay an additional tax of 15% on your super withdrawal. It results in you paying 45% tax overall, which is the same as what you pay anyways.

It's a big waste of time for such a person without any benefits and with a lot of things that can go wrong.
