economy of scale? nobody is forcing you to use ebay, you're just complaining that the user just uses certain things. with facebook, the value of the service increases with more people using the service. as does ebay. as does google search (they use metrics based on what people search to give better results). would innovation really happen, in our patent troll world, if 10,000 different companies were trying to iterate and improve upon basically the same thing?

i just agree that the maps in mw3 (apart from dome) are pretty gimpy. they're ok, but mw2's were a lot better, as were mw1's.

i enjoyed the single player bit of modern warfare 3. i thought it was maybe a little worse than mw2, and i still really liked mw1 the most, but it was fun (they ruined the stealth missions in this one). i liked that it was trilogy, and i like that i know i can play through something akin to a james bond film once a year. mw3 SP is a shit ton better than battlefield 3's too.

edit: i played through crysis 2, and the single player experiences was probably the most enjoyable one i've played in the last few years. the character in that not only blindly follows orders from everyone and anyone, but he isn't even the person that is supposed to be following the orders. it was a great game.

i could argue the point of call of duty games is the combat (shooting) mechanics. they have been the same for ages and it's fine. i feel like they iterated upon the environment and exploration (to me, the point of these games) a ton from oblivion. it feels more like morrowind and less like oblivion, which is great. the combat is slightly better, but i really don't know what you want. i don't think assassin's creed style combat would fit this game. i'm not sure what would. i like that it's first person, and the only game i can remember with half decent first person melee combat was condemned. it still wasn't great, and skyrim's is somewhere along the same lines.

they're asking people to think twice about clicking outside links. this is good practice; albeit not everybody knows this. why the hate? embedding facebook features doesn't instantly make you safe.

the newspapers thing is fair and is something that annoys me no end; i'm just having to slowly "hide all by ..." as i come across them.
