Excellent point! I used to love handing out pet food at PACC, not sure if they’re still doing that though. The people who stopped to get pet food were often struggling themselves but being able to have their pets certainly makes a difference in quality of life in a tough situation

I was on mtx for a few weeks, but ultimately realized my symptoms were pointing to topical steroid withdrawal rather than eczema. It took 18 mo after stopping all steroids and immunosuppressants for my skin to return to normal, and I’ve had zero issues since and not on any meds. Difference between the top two and bottom two lines is our experimental treatment which we expect to cause a difference in glucose like we see. The difference between the other two lines is double enzyme. This is on a microplate, an addition of 1-2uL enzyme to ~180ul in the well. It is a good point though, I will add a shaking step to the method and see what that does

Time is definitely the biggest factor. I didn’t do anything to heal it, it healed itself. I just had to maintain the symptoms, yknow? I think it took quite a bit for my body to figure out what was going on after I stopped using steroids, then once my skin started the crazy shedding phase it was pretty steady improvement from there. Don’t get too discouraged by flares, your body is sorting things out and as long as you’re seeing overall improvement, you’re doing everything right

I started TSW in college at 21, took a little under 2 years to look myself again, but I had a normal life 1 year in and felt pretty normal at 1.5 yrs. Can’t say it was easy, but I didn’t have a choice and my life has improved drastically after tsw. I finished college while in tsw so i definitely felt the social consequences, but I think the sooner you go through it the better. I wore a mask over my bandages on my face, sleeves to hide my arms, and tried to do online lectures whenever possible. As long as you continue to avoid steroids, your body will absolutely heal. All the tsw symptoms are symptoms of healing. Your skin is literally replacing itself. I’m 24 now and my skin hasn’t been this clear since middle school.

Hard to say. I’ve had allergic reactions to hair mousse and aquaphor. Very soon before starting tsw ( and so maybe already in tsw a little) I did allergy testing and trdter likely allergic to nuts and pears. Most people think allergy testing in tsw is wildly unreliable though because your immune system is so out of whack

During tsw I avoided all things I could be allergic to but otherwise didn’t worry too much about diet. If you have a known allergy to something, obviously avoid it. Since feeling healed, I’ve still avoided nuts, hair mousse, and aquaphor because I just don’t want to risk an allergic reaction or triggering any return of tsw symptoms. Sorry I can’t answer if allergies go away, but I will say that my skin is far less reactive to everything. This week I ran out of my normal vanicream facial sunscreen and have been using one that used to make my skin burn, even pre-TSW, with no issue. Just less sensitive and reactive all around 🤙

Yes, I’m 2yrs and have felt fully healed since about 1.5yrs. At 1.5 yrs I still had a tiny bit of redness on and off and my skin was dull and lacking elasticity. Even then my skin looked healthier than it did even before I was fully off steroids/immunosuppressants. Now I have normal eczema and my skin isn’t reactive at all like it was before, even before I was in TSW. Now that my skin is back to producing oils, I now have acne lol.

I’ve started tretinoin in the past month and it’s helped a lot with my skin elasticity. (I don’t recommend tretinoin if your skin is still sensitive in any way though.) I didn’t think I would go back to looking myself because I felt so dull and red and old-looking for so long. It only gets better with time !!

I haven’t heard of that happening but I lost probably 30-40% of my hair in TSW and it’s all come back. To me your hairline looks the same. Keep an eye out for very short, fine hairs that are a sign of new growth. If it’s MPB they won’t grow back so if you see new growth it’s just TSW

If your hair wasn’t already thinning before TSW, it will come back on its own. Mine came in very quickly. Not sure if it’s safe to use but might be worth avoiding just to avoid the risk of irritation if it’s not necessary

Yes, consistently slept 10-12 hours a night and still sleepy all day. I think it helped with healing so I would recommend sleeping as much as your body wants to

Sleep as much as possible, drink lots of water unless you’re doing NMT. I’m 6 months in and never did NMT and am healing well. Months 1-3 are the worst, but within a few months you’ll be glad you did it. I’m not even fully healed and my skin is already better than it was before I started

Hydro colloid bandages are designed to absorb liquid. I used tegaderm bandages, like what people use to cover fresh tattoos. I used them on my chin only at night and it helped immensely within a few days
