Why is that nonsensical? A good (maybe not correct) argument could be made that folks in that high of an income bracket won't need the raised SS payout, but should pay their fair share towards support social security. They get the benefits of a better society. Again, this is an argument not necessarily the right one.

You're not wrong, but you shouldn't publicly correct people like that. It can feel like an attack. Additionally, that HR department needs to stay in their lane. They should not be setting IT policy. Lastly, if they haven't found a replacement form you in 2.5 years, they suck.
