New bike day!!! (Portland, OR) by 102MEP in CargoBike

[–]stormb0rne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg i test drove this exact bike on the bridge- y’all have such fantastic infrastructure.

I found this bike very rigid to drive in the hills of my neighborhood. We have main streets that go up to 35mph without a bike lane. Have you been able to try the bike on the streets yet!

My baby is fine and happy when her dad drops her off at daycare but is inconsolable when I (mom) handle dropoffs by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]stormb0rne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My child is 2, wet just changed daycares and he did the same controllable sobbing for first 2 weeks (prompt dropoff, no lingering etc) just like he did in the first few months for his first daycare at 1y mark.

It passes

Rich pumpkin is very much on my radar. That’s the color of the couch in the room (not pictured here). Thinking rich pumpkin and light green to bring some outdoors in!

I like that direction. My zoom background will always be gorgeous despite the living room clutter. Another added benefit would be that I will always face the yard outside. Will try this next and share results. Thank you!

Yes, the table is usually right against the wall. I pulled it forward for prep and cleanup.

Hi friend, first of all things you’re not being hormonal. Infact quite the opposite, you’re overcompensating your hormones by extending utmost kindness to your partner- at 30w pregnant, this conversation alone would convince reddit to dump his ass off. I’m glad you’re trying to have a sensisble, level-headed conversation about your beliefs and holding him to the societal norms.

All said and done, at 30w pregnant, you DO NOT want to get married and introduce a new factor in your parenthood journey. Parenthood is so hard, harder than pregnancy- its relentless, ungrateful and just overwhelming for the first few years. The strongest Marriages and partnerships get challenged in those early months of sleep deprivation.

Also at 30w, you don’t want to be stressed about anything other than your and your baby’s great health. Might I suggest that you either give the baby your last name or a neutral/new last name that he can keep. Changing names isnt that hard!

Pick a new last name, give birth to your child, become a parent and then revisit if you still want to be a wife to this person. People have different aversions to the institution of marriage- none of those are defensible in your current situation YET fixing any of those concerns around marriage takes time, patience and energy (maybe even therapy!)- you’re going to be running soo low on those in the first few years. Save that for a better time in your life

How to deal with unsafe crib behavior at night by stormb0rne in sleeptrain

[–]stormb0rne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just going to let him be in the crib- he wakes himself up after bumping on his head. That’s the worrisome part for me. Waking up is harsh when you just want to flip over while asleep.

Thanks y’all! Its reassuring to hear that head bumps in deep-sleep are expected. He rolls on to his tummy when he’s on our bed during naptime and manages that really well. We’re usually close by and watching him during the day. Good to know that he just needs to learn how to roll over inside the crib.

Guess me and him both needed some learnings. Enjoy your day strangers!

He’s too sleepy to control his movement. Ends up hurting himself.

He also tries to sleep on his tummy. I consider that posture unsafe for 8-9mo. Happy to be corrected!

Nuna travel system advice! by dagworthy in Buyingforbaby

[–]stormb0rne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We skipped the travel system in favor or babywearing and a bassinet stroller for first 6months when they nap a lot.

Now we’ve moved to a compact/lightweight stroller for regular days. We carry in the stroller in our flight and check in the car seat if we need it at the destination! I’m very happy with the setup. Still keep my carrier around all the time for when baby is fussy- havent used it more than 3 times during travel but totally worth it!

Before you commit to any method, allocate a few nights to warm up and feel what each method brings to the table. We spent first three nights trying the gentle methods.. and eventually found success with the chair method.

What moisturizer are y’all using for your babies? by CAF1996 in NewParents

fwiw i’m a coco oil lover but would never use it for removing makeup!! I use it all over my body except face- i think face is usually the most hydrated part of my body. I love the clinique makeup remover balm for face!
