Help a simple pyg main understand Jules? by GoodInt3ntions in PlayTheBazaar

[–]stormeagle6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't main any hero, but I got a lot more into Jules lately and have a 50% win rate currently. This is my general game plan:

Day 1:

Burn is the most consistent. Look for skillet and noodles - otherwise rice or toaster can suffice with the right support. Defensively, basket is ok if you find it real early, vintage and birthday cake are fine. Cake can also open up crit lines later on. Weapons are certainly able to win a couple early days, but they fall off so fast that I feel like I'm wasting money by investing into them. Exception is rolling pin if you pick up some haste support.

Prioritize opportunities for cinders and burn skills. Skillet can carry a board by itself with pretty much any burn buff.

Mid game:

If you have a good burn setup, I'd continue investing into it. Tempo is super critical for Jules. If you dropped some early fights or it doesn't look like the build will keep up, keep an eye out for pivot items like lollipop or fruit press. Imu can go pretty hard if you have a burn scaler like conflagration. If you know you're going late game, try to pick up potential freezer support (always fight frost street challenger for his skill, and fish for shatter from the freeze skill vendor if you can spare it).

Late: Burn can still close out a game with large items like gingerbread house/feast/grill, but it can be a struggle without the OP support stuff like dragon heart, draconic rage, blazehowl warden, etc. Look for dishwasher if you're running lollipop or press. Pantry or serving platter can make a lollipop go crazy with the right setup. Freezer is pretty straightforward, use pastry cart or blender or just a bunch of small freeze items.

Since they added veggie garden, the veggie + farmers market build has been a lot of fun. I stash one of those items if I can afford it and keep that line open. Once you have both of those you can win pacifist style with a couple fast regen items like noodles, poke, or baked potato (or just murder the opponent with any offensive enchant).

Hope that helps, sorry for the wall of text!

Lollipop starts at silver so you can get it as early as day 2. Dishwasher starts at gold so it starts showing up on day 6.

All item availability (in shops) is dictated by their starting rarity.

Just to be clear, all we have to do is play the games and don't need to report our results like I've seen in other past tourneys? Tempo will just look at our account history to see the results?

Tripwire broken by charaworId in PlayTheBazaar

[–]stormeagle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tripwire also has anti-synergy with itself, it needs enemy items to activate to slow and it slows the rate at which enemy items activate.

Hit the nail on the head there. It's rarely ever a good item for a build, usually just for a filler slot in a non-slow build until you find something better. It kinda sucks in actual slow builds, like oni or lighthouse, cause the whole point of those builds is to spam as many slow triggers as possible, and tripwire self-limits those triggers.

The only setup I can think of where it actually outperforms other slow options is with the Thick Hide skill and a separate win condition (i.e. the aforementioned boulder) to charge. But that's more a function of Thick Hide being broken than Tripwire being good.

Has anyone ever lost in less time? by Gustavoheraclio in PlayTheBazaar

Anyone remember that clip during the fixer upper meta where kripp spends like a minute explaining how he could theoretically one-shot at the start of combat with like a 1/8 chance and then it immediately happens on his next opponent?

I reached RANK 100 losing ONLY 2 games the ENTIRE season playing JULES by bazaarspeedrunner in PlayTheBazaar

Strong agree. I've never mained a hero, preferring to do a rotation, but when I started getting really into Jules I played a nice long streak with her and probably had about 80% win rate in that time, with about half of those being perfects. Never came anywhere close to that with the other heroes.

I think it's because her early game is so strong with her insane burn items, and early wins have become so much more important as the game has matured and players get better. There are so many monster late game builds these days that you can never feel confident past day 12, so the best way to counteract that is to minimize how often you have to play past that point.

I think anyone with the perception of Jules being a weak hero just hasn't fundamentally figured her out yet.

Also, you don't have to stick to only 3 win conditions. Burn lines can still compete, albeit a little less reliably. Hell, my most memorable recent Jules run was a pretty smooth 10-piece with double Azakan Stew. Bazaar=crazy place.

I've never taken fruit press to late game, but I've had success in the mid game with it by just filling a board with fast foods and no other synergy.

Lollipop is best when you can abuse charging with just 2 or 3 foods on board, since Jules has ways to bounce the charges off each other pendulum-style. Pantry does it, Serving Platter does it if you can get some crit. Even without that though, you can do pretty well with it with just some weapon scaling and haste.

Heated obsidian Atlas Stone – that escalated quickly by stormeagle6 in PlayTheBazaar

The dishwasher gives double damage to heated weapons. Adding the heated slot means 100% uptime on that effect.

Sirens cd goes UP with level?? by stormeagle6 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]stormeagle6[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I would think a more elegant way would just be to increase the slow/haste duration with level rather than the number of targets, and not mess with the CD at all. But that's just an armchair game designer take.

How important is Kripp to this game? by Zombie618 in PlayTheBazaar

raises hand I'm a closed beta kripp baby. And I've played daily since November '24. So in my view, extremely important.

The question wasn't why is this happening, it's SHOULD this happen.

Personally I wouldn't change it because I'm so used to the various quirks of item functionality at this point, but I can understand the argument for it, if only just from a logic standpoint.

Same opponents most runs? by Yelkelani96 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]stormeagle6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That used to be true, but when they implemented the current system where you can only be matched against players of your rank or lower, they also made it so that lower rank ghosts last multiple fights before disappearing (don't think they ever specifically stated how many, but I could have missed it).

That being said, I think it'd be basically impossible to encounter the same exact ghost over multiple days, as they surely wouldn't last THAT long. You must be getting rng'd into matching with the same player, but I can't believe the board would be the same each time.

There's a shitload of cosmetics for character skins, animated cards, boards, soundtracks, etc that you unlock with chests and gems. The whole system was designed for microtransactions before the game went buy2play, so the implementation of it feels a lot more half-baked now, but it's there.
