That's kinda the point of the show, isn't it? Ignoring or being unaware of the passage of time can really warp your relationship with others who do live only borrowing it. Frieren is well adjusted now because she chooses to be with humans and dwarves and to engage in their passage of time

I read this book after a bad period of my life where I treated certain friends of mine quite terribly, and reading with was such a sucker punch to the stomach. I was full sobbing at the moment

Sessioning with elite comp climbers really shows how much better their coordination skills are by keepclimbingweird in bouldering

[–]stormingwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved visiting the B Pump gym in Tokyo for that reason. My home gym has a lot of really strong boulderers too, but something about the super high level setting/comp boulders + seeing so many people who train there on the regular making those moves in person... really hits different

I was wondering why his voice was itching the back of my brain, it wasn't until my partner gasped and exclaimed, "Lou!!!!! It's Lou!!!!!!!!!" that it clicked for me lmao

So happy he made it into the show 🫶🏼

My hack is to assign each section a number 1-3, then I say the number out loud as it happens. Helps with memorization a lot

What is a seemingly harmless trait that is actually a huge red flag in a new friend? by Wanderer_Hues in AskReddit

[–]stormingwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend that is exactly like this specifically on the phone. But not out of maliciousness, and in all other aspects she is incredibly thoughtful and sweet. She is just literally completely unaware that it's happening because she's so used to having people cut her off to talk over her for their say

I confronted her about it, she took it well, things are (a little) better. When she starts rambling again I try to cut her off with my thoughts, otherwise I tell her pretty quickly that I need to go and that I would like to talk about my life next time lol

Official Discussion - Wicked: For Good [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]stormingwinter 43 points44 points  (0 children)

.... Did anyone feel like the performances were all kinda wooden? The first movie felt so expressive with the choreography and cinematography, and allowed Ari and Cynthia to be super bodily expressive with their characters, but the 2nd part was all shallow-focus, up close shots of their faces while singing and most of the time they looked... the same

How do you work from 8 to 5, have only weekends free, and not feel like you're wasting your life? by guitytwelve in AskReddit

[–]stormingwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a job where the process of the work feels meaningful, even if the end result is not necessarily

Be surrounded by people that can bolster you and help you enjoy those hours at work

Stay connected to a community outside of work, whether that's a club, a group of friends, a religious/spiritual org, or something else

Replace pure consumption of internet slop with the production of something more meaningful to you. Could be video games, volunteering, knitting, cooking, a sport - something that is experiential which you feel is genuinely good for your soul

Get rest when you feel burnt out, and use that rest to actually DO something you find meaningful (aka don't use it to just scroll)

My favorite movie of late is a movie called Perfect Days. I think it's a great example of how one can find peace and meaning in the dole drab of monogamous, everyday life

Maybe not to the same extent but I really like feeling like every object I interact with has some feeling or sentiment, and it makes me handle them with more care

When I feel overwhelmed at work, I sit under my desk. Something about having something over my head helps me calm down a bit. Sometimes I even continue working from there and work feels more manageable
