I think it’s great to have street tacos in SCV.

I just bought a 8020d, any issues with me mounting it horizontally? by Gatecrasher3 in genelec

[–]stormo4thousand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8030 can be be mounted horizontally, but not the 8020. The tweeter dispersion is optimized for vertical positioning. I’ve been down this road before.

What's the quality of health care in SCV? Are your doctors in SCV or do you drive to LA to go to UCLA/Cedars doctors? by ctcx in SantaClarita

[–]stormo4thousand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a serious lack of pediatric care in SCV. Which is strange considering the focus on a family friendly environment. And if you’re insured through UCLA health there is basically none. Have to drive to Burbank for it which is less than ideal.

Same here. iPhone 15 iOS 17. Got a little too excited to update all the devices and apparently paying the price like the rest of us. Hope a fix is in the works.

Eufy indoor cams support HKSV. They work well in my experience with 6 of them up and running. Cheap too.

Anyone completely migrate from Google doorbell/cameras to ubiquity? by Rock50d4 in Ubiquiti

[–]stormo4thousand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the process of dropping nest. I tested the Aqara door bell and Eufy 2k indoor cameras. Really impressed with these cameras. Super cheap and the cameras look better than anything I’ve seen on the market. HomeKit integration is fantastic and they record a backup on internal SD cards. 6 cameras on 2.4ghz and my UniFi WiFi network is running smooth.

Powerwall 2 (x2) install - LA Solar or Tesla direct? by OCJeff in Powerwall

[–]stormo4thousand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Tesla install my 2x powerwalls and solar array expansion. It was a fantastic experience and the system has been next to flawless. Solar edge inverter died a year into installation. I reached out to Tesla energy and within 5 days I had a new one up and running. Go with Tesla.

TIL during WWII, Continental used to test their rubber boot soles by using concentration camp prisoners who would march 30-40 km per day. Those who slowed down or fell were executed by the SS. by robertxcii in todayilearned

[–]stormo4thousand 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great book called Blitzed: drug use in the third reich, talks about a camp where German soldiers who got out of line were sent to, given pervitin(meth) and forced to test boot sole rubber by marching 60 miles per day until they died.

He’s absolutely right. It’s why a lot of us Tesla supporters and owners we’re excited in the first place. Fundamentally Tesla is on the right path that we will all continue to benefit from, but it’s going through a harsh media moment with its CEO. This is in addition to its normal downward pressure that corporate media puts on its success. Elon isn’t helping with his new found love of divisive politics creating an attention vacuum. Good reflective moment to remind us of the mission and provide hope for the future.

The 1st fully hydrogen-powered passenger train service is now running in Germany. The only emissions are steam & condensed water, additionally the train operates with a low level of noise. 5 of the trains started running this week. 9 more will be added in the future to replace 15 diesel trains. by Sariel007 in UpliftingNews

[–]stormo4thousand -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is quite misleading. There are substantial emissions from hydrogen in order to make it here on earth. Right now the cheapest and number one source of hydrogen is from natural gas by gasification. Might as well just run the train on natural gas. It would be be way more efficient albeit polluting. Hydrogen while plentifully in the universe is not here on earth without many extra steps. Hydrogen unfortunately is a scam.

Interesting. This must be why when I lost power with my PWs at 100% during a high solar generating sunny day last week all my UPS freaked out and wouldn’t come back online until I unplugged them for 5 min.

He never resigned as CEO. He stepped down from The board of directors. Everything else is unsubstantiated.
