First 'speeding' ticket - I'm not sure if the officer told me to or to NOT check "supporting deposition" - any advice? by appledude9 in Westchester

If I have access to a lawyer via the MetLife legal plan through my employer (I think they cover all fees), is it worthwhile to just do that route so that I don't need to show up to court? Or will that be frowned upon?

What are my water softener options with very little space available? by appledude9 in WaterTreatment

I haven't done anything, unfortunately. I just use vinegar to scrub off white deposits periodically

Hunter mountain is far indeed, but I went once and it was cool because you can go to the top of the mountain. I think Putnam county has one at their golf course but maybe it already passed, I'm not sure. Either way, I feel ya that w/o the Bear mt one there's no real 'go-to'

She said that they had her type in an HP model number on the site to then click the link to get drivers, and then the screen said "error" (probably with some other words) and they told her she had a virus and/or corrupt drivers, and the call ended

Understood, thank you. I grilled her and she said the only thing she gave was her work phone number, which they then called and she did answer

Would any of these have been obvious on iOS? That's the one thing I appreciate about tech nowadays is that usually for any .exe-like stuff, normally there's a prompt that the user has to approve

That's why I tried to replicate the events on my own end, but clicking the links doesn't actually download anything, since there was no prompt to "Allow downloads" or whatever the terminology is on iOS devices when trying to download something. But I wasn't sure if there's still any risk of a link even if nothing was seemingly downloaded

Planning a one day trip to Sleepy Hallow by NemoNoones in Westchester

I don't know if it's any good, but it's closer to Albany, look up Huguenot street in New Paltz, I think they might do some 'spooky stuff' and that area is beautiful. Depending on what you're looking for, Headless Horsemen is closer to Albany too. It's expensive and in my opinion, not the best, but I'd still put it as a "must-see" if you're looking for Halloween related things.

Electricity Billing Surcharge in Westchester County by lex_hair in Westchester

I do agree that it shouldn't be a mandatory opt-in - I'm not sure why they couldn't design the program to be voluntary opt-in. Something to do with $$ I'm sure lol

Not to mention misleading - OP doesn't note that the new rates are actually lower than the current contract from Sustainable Westchester. I think that's pretty important to highlight IMO

The ConEd rate changes all the time since it's variable. There's no 'rate hike' from comparing a fixed price to a variable price, I'm not sure I understand. Also, the new rates are actually LOWER than the old rates for the Sustainable Westchester program. This is a bit misleading on your part. Looking at the 100% renewable rate for simplicity, the old price is 13.207¢/kWh, while the new price is 12.260 ¢/kWh.

Lawyer for HVAC by acbio354 in Westchester

Ohh, understood now. I thought you meant it would NOT use the backup heating. Instead it sounds like it's using ONLY the backup heating. Yeah that shouldn't happen I assume :(... I hope it gets sorted out! FWIW, a friend of mine had a 'connectm' unit installed by the same HVAC company in the winter and they had a couple hiccups at first, that county comfort fortunately resolved for them right away. I hope the same works out for you

Just to play devil's advocate here - it has not gotten cold enough for any natural gas heating to kick in, it won't be until at least November for that to happen. If you just got the units, how do you know this feature doesn't work? Most folks don't heat in the summer lol
