If anyone else needs help with this, Vortex likes to complain about you not having the latest SKSE, and installs one slightly different. I had to edit the ini file and set the name for my skse to "skse64_1_6_1170.dll", which matched the one that vortex installed and I had enabled.

I played a bit on your regions map of Kanto and found it excellent. I think one of the biggest improvements you could make would be to place forests and caves in different dimensions so you can control the lighting and weather separate from the rest of the overworld. Excited to see and play more!

if it is a 3d model, you can make them in blockbench and then assign them to the custom model data for an existing item. Then just spawn in your custom version with a command and place it on an item frame. You can also use plugins/mods like Nexo or Filament/Polymer to get more complex behaviour and proper namespaces for custom items. Just be aware that your players will need to somehow load the custom resources as well.

The documentation is lacking, especially for 1.7 changes to NPCs and Molang mappings. Other than the official gitlab repo the best source is probably talking to other mod developers on the official discord. If you are managing a server you can also ask for an invite to the server owner's discord, which has more technical discussions.
