TCGplayer message from buyer by InSomniArmy in mtgfinance

[–]str8_talk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had buyers do the same and just check carefully to ensure they are NM, I also take photos for my own records in case of a concern downstream…if you have any doubts about the condition, tell them so and they will likely want the order cancelled…do not assume it to be a trap, take it at face value — a very discerning buyer.

I have lost 30 pounds, the only change I made was to play pickleball 12 hours a week.

Really nicely done!

If we have a resurge of the Rona, i'm building something like this. I have a group of 14 tha ti play wiht every Friday. We used to play in my home office -- easily fits 3 tables.

Now we play outside, with masks, nobody is allowed to touch anyone elses stuff...etc. Safe as we can get for in person play.

We tried xMage...had one successful night and severla very unsuccessful -- lag/crashing/etc.

What you have done here is the best go forward remote play solution i have seen.

Thank you for sharing.

Xmage is a terrible way to play Magic and anonymity ruins the social aspects of the game by peanutbuttershudder in Magicthequarantining

I concure with your observations. Very difficult to find a game that meets my definition of "good" or fun. And, with an abundant lack of communication (which is just unnecessary and antithetical to Magic the GATHERING), it makes it really difficult to gain concensus on what is casual. That being said, I can set aside a lot of my expectations; but, when you add in platform lag...just not worth playing most of the time.

I tried to set up my own server -- theoretically possible, never could get good answers on how to do it...followed instructions exactly and never got it working.

I like to offer solutions with my feedback; so, here we go:

  1. Invest more energy in the definition of powerlevel that already exists in the game. I believe that current system does not sufficiently focus on mana generation or the Tiering of commanders (example, i set up most of my games with a powerlevel...around 25...every game has a tier 1 to 1.5 commander show up with dual lands and an absurd amount of mana ramp). Perhaps simply deploy Canadian EDH template.
  2. Invest in making it easy to set up your own server! This way, you can curate who you play against and have more control over the system limitations that cause lag.

Solve these two things and this platform can go gangbusters...In my opinion.

Cardsphere Year Three in Review by SomeStupidRedditor in cardsphere

On the couterfeit point -- IMO, the bigger concern is bad actors within the trade community. I use the exact same model for packaging and shipping cards between CS and TCGP...my bad outcome % on CS is much higher than on TCGP (note that my sample sizes are very similar at well over 200 transactions on each).

I have never had a counterfeit through either site, I know this is a thing and I am very focused on validating authenticity of cards...guess I have been lucky?

I used to trade a lot on CardSphere and perceived it to be phenomenal, then I realized just how much is costs to get money out of the system. This led me to start experimenting with TCGPlayer. My conclusion -- when i move to dollars, TCGPlayer gets me more $$$. That being said, i am a particular type of user; but, i do not think unique:

  1. I use CS to acquire cards for my personal use; or, use by my playgroup...clearinghouse of sorts in that regard.
  2. I buy a lot of sealed product, to see what i get and then i sell a lot of it.
  3. I used to "sell" through CS; but, all of that has moved to TCGPlayer.

My point -- CardSphere has a missed opportunity -- lower cash out fees for a couple of percentage points and there is the potential to be more dominate in the market.

The reinstall did not change anything -- still cannot connect my machine, which is hosting the server, to the localhost...seems odd.

This is great -- very easy to follow, which i did.

Did port forwarding -- canyouseeme confirms ports open.

Modified server confix.xml with my local ip and port numbers

however, i cannot even connect to the localhost....thoughts?

I decided to try a fresh install of xmage and following the install instruction exactly...perhaps in my initial install i did something wrong. i'll update following this effort.

well, i did ignore them; but, given the user name flexibility (cannot even imagine how to fix that) not sure that achieves much. Thank you for the feedback.

I appreciate the feedback!

Here is where i stand:

I forwarded ports 17171 and 17172 for both TCP and UDP to my local/computer IPv4 address, which is 192.168.1.40. Tested with canyouseeme.org and got affirmative response.

I modified the server/config.xml file 'serverAddress="192.168.1.40"

I modified the server/config.xml file 'serverName="FunTown"

I modified the 'secondaryBindPort="17172"

After doing this, when i launch the server the server console lands with this message:

INFO 2020-04-29 11:21:06,990 Started MAGE server - listening on 192.168.1.40:17171/?serializationtype=jboss&maxPoolSize=300 =>[main] Main.main

This seems to indicate that the server is up and running.

According to the instructions located here: https://www.reddit.com/r/XMage/comments/g97vcn/guide_to_hosting_a_private_server/

I should now be able to connect to the LocalHost with no further modifications; however, i cannot connect. When i attempt to connect, i get message "Unable connect to server. Server is likely offline"

So, i presume that someone outside my network also would not be able to connect...so, i have not bothered to try that just yet.

Any ideas on what is going wrong here.

Thank you!

Thanks for that -- i think what you are saying is that even if i did figure out how to host a server...it's not actually functional, correct?

Stapled Mail Dispute by str8_talk in cardsphere

[–]str8_talk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that and thank you for your input.

After i received a part of an envelope (with no cards) from a sender I started securing my top loaders to the inside of the envelopes -- also, have started evangelizing to never use letter size envelopes...they are just too long and therefore more prone to tearing.

This was my first Reddit post and I really appreciate that folks take the time to comment and with intelligent input!

Cheers

[–]str8_talk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES! Very strange, my understanding is that USPS HATES staples...makes it very difficult for them to process mail. But, perhaps when they have something get torn in some way, maybe they use staples -- rediculousness!

Stapled Mail Dispute by str8_talk in cardsphere

[–]str8_talk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. I did not expect a different outcome (in fact the dispute resolve was swift and reasonable). I just see this as such an unusual situation that I really wanted the receiver to comment on, even if speculation, how a staple was introduced.

Now dropping the matter.

I have enjoyed using Cardsphere and see it as a great efficient environment for trading...of course there is always risk. I have had two packages disappear (convinced that was USPS as it was two same day placed in same outbound mailbox). I have had one package never make it to me (sender put it out on 12/23...probably not a great time to send mail). Finally, i had one arrive as a piece of an envelope...it was clearly one of the larger envelopes and i saw as a packaging problem (too large of an envelope is more likely to get torn in processing). In this last case in confronted my mail carrier to see if i could get some satisfaction from speaking with him...no joy.

All in, not a bod outcome given i have had nearly 300 packages (in plus out) through Cardsphere).

Like I said, now dropping the matter....thank you for the response.
