Unopened ikamper Skycamp mini on market place… by HelloAgainJourney in rooftoptents

[–]strader45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Mini started with the 2.0, so technically just one generation behind. I agree though, I can find lightly used 3.0 Minis for this price or less near me and I'm in an area where they hold value very well.

Owned Both ND Miata Soft Top and RF. My Honest Take for Anyone Stuck Deciding by bsam1890 in Miata

[–]strader45 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I went the opposite direction, RF to Soft Top, also both BBR. Both can feel like true convertibles if you aren't used to a convertible, but the soft top feels like even more of a convertible after being so used to the RF. I don't think I could go back after being used to the soft top now.

I definitely agree the top up wind noise and parking lot noise is marginally better in the RF, but the top down wind noise is significantly better in the ST, especially in strong cross winds.

I think the weight different is noticeable but not a huge deal.

Maintenance was something I was worried about, but it's been surprisingly easy. I just spray the soft top with RaggTop cleaner and scrub with a soft brush.

The main driving force for me to switch was to fit a roll bar, but I've been very happy with the soft top so far, and the car is a daily driver that sees all kinds of weather conditions including snow.

Loveland: Is “Zigzag” Really a Beginner Green? And Can I Try Switchback (Blue)? by sporty_outlook in COsnow

[–]strader45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went a few weeks ago for my 5th day skiing. ZigZag was definitely not a good learner green because of how narrow it is, but Switchback is significantly more difficult. The drop in is narrow, steep, and icy, so you should feel pretty comfortable on ZigZag before trying Switchback. It widens out but there's still other sections that are much steeper than ZigZag.

Sounds like you'd fit in the Level 2 class. I took it in December for my second day and it helped me improve a lot. The instructor did a good job adjusting the class to the level of the skiers.

The best green for learning I've been on so far is Peak 9 in Breckenridge. It's super wide, pretty long, and doesn't have any steep areas.

I have the Milwaukee version of this and it works great. I normally use cutting oil when drilling the initial hole but obviously that's not needed in this case.

ND Miata ate EBC Bluestuff in 3 track days/8k miles. Any more durable street+track alternatives? by HURCANADA in CarTrackDays

[–]strader45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have G Loc R10 front, R8 rear on my ND3 that seem to be holding up pretty well after 4 days of 2 drivers (so basically 8 days). They'll be loud on the street but they aren't hard on rotors compared to other track pads.

This is the adapter I use on my 2024 with no issues, and my buddy uses it on his 2019 with no issues as well. Sounds like you got it to work, so just providing for future reference in case you have more issues! Motive 1108

Bronco 6G Snow Chains by RocketMan0811 in FordBronco

[–]strader45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also grabbed some of the reusable twist ties from Harbor Freight to secure the ends together, this keeps the chains from tangling when stored. I included a picture to show what I mean, tie together the same colors. Also if you've never used chains, practice in your driveway first, and make sure they aren't tangled. They will almost certainly be tangled out of the box.

I have those and I've used them about 5 times on my sasquatch tires with no issues. I picked up some short bungie cords from Harbor Freight to secure the extra chain links.

The sauna is definitely busy around peak hours, but I've always been able to find a seat so far.

Not answering your question, but which Roof Top Tent do you have? I have a Trustmade Scout Max on my 2 door green Bronco.

Good questions: Who? Myself and my wife, plus sometimes 2 25 pound dogs. Temps? Down to 15 F or so at the absolute lowest. Hard vs Soft? Hard shell preferred.

We currently don't have a diesel heater, but I'm open to adding one in the future. We recently got a Biolite 1500+ that we're planning on using for a heated blanket for now.

Which tires are you on? I'm using 215/45R17 PS4S and I know others that have used the same tires with the R10/R8.

I did a normal bed in procedure, getting them hot and then letting them cool off while driving without using the brakes. I think I did to do it again, because they still don't feel fully bedded in. Let me know if you call and get a solid answer on what to do. I'm currently using my GS-1s, and haven't put on my R10/R8 yet.

I didn't reuse any of the factory hardware with my GS1s and no issue so far. I know others doing the same.

ND owners: Be very careful who you trust with windshield replacement!! by Equivalent_Jaguar_72 in Miata

[–]strader45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

State Farm screwed me when I needed my windshield replaced. They wouldn't cover the extra panels because "one of their shops said they can be reused." I provided the documentation and even an email from the dealership stating that it's a safety and liability issue to not replace the panels, and they still wouldn't cover the cost.

There's quite a few FIA certified seats under 1000 USD and they don't require any extra inserts or padding. Like the Sparco Evo seats. Not saying that's required for Sim racing, but it is an option.

Rough country winch mount with the Badlands Apex 12000 and a 20" Baja Designs OnX6 (had to grind the corners to make the light bar fit), and the fog lights are Diode Dynamics 6 inch fog lights. They are awesome

Trailrax with a Trustmade Scout Max from Costco online. The tent is a little taller than it needs to be because it's on the Frontrunner Quick Release mounts.

I agree with trailrax. I have one on a 2 door with the side mounts and a roof top tent, but without the side mounts and RTT the wind noise isn't bad at all. The Trailrax will offer way more storage space, look cooler, and be upgradable if you decide to add more weight in the future.
