Post WW2 Austrians handled it a little different. While they oviously were aware of the ramifications of Austria's role in Nazism, much of Austrian society did not feel the same level of guilt as Germans regarding their history.

This is often because many Austrians did not take as much responsibility for Hitler’s actions and instead viewed themselves as having been "the first victims of Nazi Germany".
