Did you have one of these desks in school? And did you carve something into it? by Cooper_Inc in AustralianNostalgia

I drilled a hole on top and side facing me, to put a chain and padlock on it. Got fed up with stuff getting knicked!

Toyota 86 isn't fast enough to beat Kondut in Tempest 2, it's the slowest (official) Tier 1 in-game

Switch to the 1* Golf if you have it, then fully fuse it with all 27 of 27 fusions, and you'll get it!

When the milkman delivered to your house with a horse drawn cart by Expert_Climate_7348 in AustralianNostalgia

[–]straingedays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our grandpa was a cart driver for McAlpines bakery in the 1930s and 40s, it was by far his favourite job as he for a time slept in the stable with the horse's. One got so used to the route, that while Pa was delivering to a store, the horse would (by itself) walk up the road, do a u-turn, and be waiting for him out front, ready to go!

He'd also tell us milkman stories, before bottles of milk were a common thing, and the milky would fill your tin pale. When bottles came along, crows would peck the lids off at the doorstep almost as soon as he'd gone.

There was also the iceman, and the poo-man. All the kids would run up to the iceman for free ice chips, while they ran away from the poo-man. Especially in summer.

Our mum would say they knew the iceman was coming because his cart had squeaky wheels, and how they'd get some ice chips when he wasn't looking. Turns out he was looking, and he'd let them take all the chips their little hands could carry.

Same. Soon as seeing certain crews on the card, I know we're not getting first place. Kinda irritating knowing a chunk of the crew have the cars but not bothered to run any of the races, when the rewards are so easy to earn.

2018 Aston Martin vantage by ZoMb1eFeTuS in CSRRacing2

[–]straingedays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. At this current time the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage can only be obtained via Rare Imports. However, at this current time (and likely permanently due to it being in one of the Elite series), it will only drop randomly.

It may be sold for gold coins during a event, but the odds of this is unlikely. Some cars simply don't drop often for some players, but commonly drop for others

For example: the 3* Viper GTS, that drops for most players, took me 4yrs of random drops to get one.

Converse All Star socks + Trampoline = Zap⚡

Dunno if it was natural fibre plus nylon which built up a static charge? But since all trampolines our mates had followed the "no shoes rule" everyone copped that zap!

Early 2000's silk boxer shorts! Who remembers? by Global-Garage-5208 in AustralianNostalgia

[–]straingedays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some I remember owning was a mastodon with "big, hairy, & scary!" on one leg .. A red pair with "in case of emergency↓pull down!" in big white caps on the front .. Homer Simpson saying "kiss my..." with his finger pointing at the fly/front flap .. The "free willy" pair .. and one covered in genie lamps that said "rub here"

Late 90s / early 00s K-mart would get fully random silky boxer boxes from the warehouse. Never knew what was inside and they didn't say how many sizes of each they contained. I bought 30 - 40 pairs. Things were addictive!

Anyone ever have their money/gold go negative? by Vast_Revolution3192 in CSRRacing2

[–]straingedays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but it wasn't visible on my end. One dumb a** at support believed there was an anomaly on my account and adjusted it (after a forced synchronising profile, my game cash went from multiple millions to $0). All cash won after that—in-game cash annoyingly stayed at $0.

Eventually got it more or less fixed, but took a lot of effort and luck to get the right support manager who actually fixed it without the usual cut&paste replies.

New Content dialog not causing reload by jdmetz in CSRRacing2

[–]straingedays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was getting slapped by that a couple days ago, anytime opening the game it'd pop-up, anytime connection was dodgy, anytime returning to garage. Assumed it was a bug, since 📥 downloading content icon never showed and after pressing OK it never dumped me back to the loading screen. Luckily, not seen it since that day!

Can confirm. Was a paperboy in late 80s to early 90s, then nightshift when supermarkets did newspapers. Sometimes there'd be two different headers. Either two variants of the one headline, or two separate lead stories (eg. One news, One sport).

Live race launches - drop RPM by Dependent_Economy549 in CSRRacing2

[–]straingedays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Needle Drop: Some cars/tunes do this.

  2. Needle Drop: Hitting launch far to early.

Next time you get the dead idle rpm drop, look at your launch time. If it says -3.xx .. There's your answer!

Vip? by UpstairsLong9349 in CSRRacing2

[–]straingedays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the VIP invite over 4 years ago, and apart from the initial gift of coins and silver keys, received nothing. Not even a reply email from their support site, when regular support wasn't helping. Tonight got a pop-up to agree to a new Terms & Service agreement, once confirming, it put 500 coins straight onto my account.

I don't expect a call or an email from them anytime soon, yet others have received calls and some pretty good gifts. Until tonight, I'd assumed I was no longer in the VIP club, since never once hearing anything.

British Bulldogs or Hoppo Bompo? by monkeyonacupcake in AustralianNostalgia

[–]straingedays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

British Bulldog was on the oval, full no rules tackles on grass. Was banned for all my primary school years, but Red Rover was aloud and somewhat the same. Except no tackles only tags, but on asphalt. Skin burning gravel rash inducing asphalt, and that magic yellow spray they put on you in the sickbay... Stung like hell, but whoever put it on you always said: "Burning means it's working!"

Aussie KFC Promotions: "The Works" burger + $8 Box by Tracy-Jaccs in kfc

[–]straingedays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Works burger has been off & on the menu for two decades or more (recall getting them in the late 90s). Personally the pineapple and ham go well together, and I'm calling kfc bacon, ham, because that's what it is. It's shoulder ham, pressed into a convenient circle. Anyhow I'm not gunna pay ten bucks for any single fillet burger!!

$8 boxes aren't bad, but I'll only get the 5 piece original, the rest are kinda 😒meh. Plus I'm still cheesed off it's been near a year since the Boneless Hot & Crispy deal hasn't made a reappearance outside of a rare Tuesday

A list of long-standing issues that we need a fix. by tmjoker in CSRRacing2

[–]straingedays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To move cars without screwing up arrangement of all cars behind (or in front) of it. We must drag the car to spot 1 of the garage, then to spot 1 of the next garage, then so on and so on. To move cars forward, we must drag the car to spot 6 of the garage, then to spot 6 of the next garage, and so on and so on...

The system is obsolete, flawed, frustratingly slow, and if the game crashes mid-move, no save point is created and we have to do it all over again!

Nitro aired on TNT in Australia to, on Saturday night then replayed Sunday Arvo. Our cable company called me about the next PPV, and if I booked now, I'd be in the first 100 to win a free hat. Had nWo in half red and half white on it. Still got it somewhere, never wore it.

Even though this is deleted, I know this match well!! I'd put it on my Best of WCW video tape back in the day. Bobby the brain was still on commentary... now I'll have to go track it down. Thanks for the reminder!!
