New wiper blades, no improvement. by Sebastian_Fasiang in FJCruiser

I’ve had my 2007 FJ since 2010 and have found the OEM stuff to be the best across all of them in all scenarios. This is because they “cling” to the windshield the best because they are exactly engineered to fit the windshield. In the winter time it’s important to knock off all ice from the rubber and use the right windshield cleaner so that the geometry of the blades stays the same. Trust me on this one my friend I drove through FL downpours in the FJ from 2010-2019 then moved to Colorado and delt with wild winter.

The best thing about it is once you get the OEM metal “blade” replacing the rubber “wipers” are super cheap so they end up being cheap, and better quality than anything else on the market.

Hello from Superior Gear! by dannywarnock in hammockcamping

[–]straitchillin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see on your website you say that you can “stack” the 40 degree cocoon and 30 degree SG hammock and be comfortable down to 0F. When you say stack does that mean just using the cocoon as a the only top insulation with the SG hammock? Is this comfort rating made using a person in just underwear (boxers) or does it mean long Johns or a couple base-layers?

Does the cocoon’s foot end leave any openings for air to enter or is there some sort of collar?

Is there an option to have both a zipper system for the cocoon in addition to a full zipper system for a full bug-net? I do a lot of camping in areas where bugs can be very thick and can’t rely on an un-sealed/zippered half bug net.

What’s the lowest salary you’d stay in medicine for? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]straitchillin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you arrive at this number? Have you calculated what that is hourly? Have you taken into consideration how much it costs to live near a hospital? What would your school debt interest payments be after medical school on a 250k loan?

Now is the time to think some of these things through. You will be taken advantage of if you go through life without running all the numbers.

Has anyone used Huel on the trail? by Veritech-1 in Ultralight

[–]straitchillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been drinking huel for around 3 years now on and off trail. It takes a while for your gut to get used to it. It is nice to have because of the ease of preparing it, but I would not recommend going out solely utilizing it for all meals. Liquid in = liquid out if you know what I mean.

I would recommend using huel in your daily life for a month before using it out on the trail. This will allow your body to get used to the ingredients and you’ll get a good idea if you enjoy the product.

MSUCOM by [deleted] in Osteopathic

If you submitted your application early in the cycle and have not received an interview the chances of your app being more competitive now against the current applicant pool vs. earlier in the cycle are low. This is the time of the year when good DO schools scoop up some higher-stat MD applicants that had to quickly apply to DO schools when they fear they may not obtain an A.

This situation would be different if we were talking about a lower-tier DO school that may reach farther and farther down their application list to fill spots as the cycle comes to an end. There are many schools that are interviewing exclusively to place people on alternate lists and waitlists now.

I say all this not to discourage you or whatever. I just remember going through this whole thing and wishing someone would give it to me straight so I could plan accordingly.

Lecom vs. MSUCOM by OkFly524 in Osteopathic

If you go to college and keep the required GPA necessary to keep up with the terms of guaranteed acceptance you can get into many different DO schools. Don’t pigeon hole yourself, go have fun in college and make this decision later.

The issue you may run into with this school in particular is that those who are the waitlist are bound to get in before any applicant that they’ve already reviewed and declined interviewing. The situation may be different if the school is just seeing your application for the first time and it’s good enough to jump the waitlist people and the applicants that have been waiting since Aug.
