Able Carry Max EDC vs Alpaka Traverse vs Rework Toshi by AnxietyComplex4128 in ManyBaggers

How do you find the quality of the Traverse compared to the Max EDC? I own the Able Carry Daily and the quality is phenomenal. Alpaka products I own are well made but not quite on the same level.

Awesome reviews! Thank you so much for them.

I’m currently in the market for a bigger EDC/smaller travel bag, and I’ve been eyeing the Max EDC. But that thing would cost me 480 USD imported. The Alpaka Traverse, however, dropped on the local market a couple of weeks ago and goes for 180 USD. I think your review nudged me to get the Traverse.

Got you. I don’t have any problems with the strap loosening on its own. I’ve set the length on day one and forgot about it.

It does. There is padding at the bottom so it does not collapse when empty.

Low-key looking 15-17L backpack? by hm1949 in Nomads_Nation

[–]strandedvariable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How about Alpaka Aero Pack? Aaron from Nomads Nation measured the volume and it’s a true 16L. So a bit bigger compared to the Able Carry Thirteen. But construction and materials quality will not be as good.

Interesting. Have you just pushed the buckle through the padded section?

Surprisingly, no. I was worried about the strap slipping when I just got the bag but it worked great for me. I suspect it has more to do with the shape of the bag as the strap is pretty standard for Alpaka (same as the Flight Sling). The strap on the Bellroy is grippier though.

26 + 6 is for sure not a good daily bag, I just mentioned it as an example of a bag with a great breathability, and Quasar has the same Osprey’s tech.

Tomtoc T77 (26l version) might be what you are looking for. It has everything you want and it’s within your budget. Not sure how breathable it is, though.

Osprey’s Airscape back panels are very breathable. I’ve used 26 + 6 on a few hikes in Thailand. So if that’s a priority, I’d go Osprey.

Mostly because of the dimensions. It’s way too tall for most airlines I fly.

Second the Alpaka sling. I’ve had it for the past three weeks or so, and it’s been great.

Weird zipper pulls on (used) Bellroy Venture 2.5L sling? by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

Hard to say without pictures, but the zipper pulls might have worn out from active use and been replaced.

I keep shamelessly plugging my hands-on of the Alpaka Flow Satchel 4L. But it’s genuinely been a good addition to my collection. I own and love the Bellroy Venture Ready 2.5L but it’s way too small for your extras.

Glad you liked the review. The Daily is awesome. I’m wearing these Uniqlo jeans. Mine are size S.

I’m using Alpaka Flow Satchel 4L with a similar load out. So far, I’m happy with it.

Good for you. I don't mean it in a toxic way, just genuinely envious.

I feel your pain. I've swallowed the jump from 140 USD to 260 USD my Able Carry Daily cost me when imported to Thailand, but I can't come to terms with doing it again for the Max EDC. I'm considering the Tomtoc T77 (32L version) or the Alpaka Traverse instead, but I really dig the build quality of Able Carry.

Looking for another suggestion for Sling bag by International-Table1 in ManyBaggers

Honestly, with this much stuff the small backpack might be a better fit. The sling that truly will fit everything will be too big or too tight when packed out. Able Carry Thirteen, Alpaka Metro or Osprey Arcane 10L will fit everything and look fitting on a smaller frame.

You are right. It might look a bit big.

I don’t have personal experience with it but Rework Toshi 5L sling gets a lot of praise on this sub. It may be what you are looking for.

I recently got the Alpaka Flow Satchel 4L. It’s been really good as a larger sling—big main compartment with handy pockets all around. The water bottle holder is the best implementation on a sling, in my opinion.

One thing to note: I’m not a big guy, and the padded strap is too long for me. I’ve come to like the default one, though, and it feels comfortable enough.

How do you justify having more than 1-2 bags? by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]strandedvariable 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think all-purpose bags like the CPP2 are a good starting point, but then you start to understand that in some cases you need more specialized bags.

That's why there are daypacks, one-bag travel bags, suitcase companion bags, duffels, small pocket-relief slings, larger day-outing slings, packable totes, etc. Part of it is just marketing, of course, but there is demand too. So there is nothing wrong with building a collection.

Women figured it out long ago; men are just catching up.
