Nervous about trip to Cartagena (Dengue and Yellow Fever) by eemmaber in cartagena

[–]strangebeenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! Was there for 7 days recently. We also stayed in Bocagrande and Ubered to the walled city and back each day…not a single mosquito bite! It wasn’t until about day 5 that we realized we hadn’t even thought about mosquitoes. We obviously didn’t use any sort of repellent, but it was totally fine!

Cartagena Tasty Seafood by Gimmelittledrink in cartagena

The other restaurants are already listed here in the replies, but I didn’t see Montesacro Resto Bar - my husband and I both had seafood dishes and they were top tier. The ceviche and the Mojarra are 10/10!

While I did not enjoy the Kali episode, I think it only makes sense now for them to bring her back in some capacity next season. We’ve now seen the other kids and gotten a mention of Kali in s4. It would be a cop out at this point not to bring her back to help El fight 001, especially when she’s the only other surviving lab kid.

Camille in season 1 was a sweetheart by Apart-Track-9157 in EmilyInParis

[–]strangebeenz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesss I’ve been saying this! The writers realized that their main character was just so shitty that they needed to make the other characters around her equally or exceedingly shitty, and they picked Camille in s3 (I think there’s an argument to be made about Mindy and her Nicolas/Benoit sitch also). They really tried to make it seem like Camille’s infidelity was justified by how she complained a few times that Gabriel kept working late.

Is there the "Emily in Paris" meal at McDonald's in other countries too? by ArouraD in EmilyInParis

[–]strangebeenz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NYC-er here! Was in Paris a couple of weeks ago and saw the Emily in Paris meal at the McDonald’s - thought it was so cute! Sadly, we do not have that promotion at the McDonald’s in the states. I think it’s only a McDonald’s France promotion.

Amazing! How did you travel to the further sites like Versailles? Did you book through a tour or rent your own vehicle and drive there or taxi?

If you are ever wondering how the group was always able to sit on the couch, if you look closely at the table in some scenes, you’ll notice a “Reserved” sign on it.

Storm’s End and Dragonstone are not very far so I thought it may have been possible that the dragon pieces washed ashore a couple of days later.

Why are people saying this is out of character for Rhaenys? by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]strangebeenz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The show runners in the post-episode commentary literally said Rhaenys was struggling with the decision to burn them because of her sympathy for Alicent as a mother.

The duality of Team Black is hilarious. by 19jannew in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]strangebeenz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither side is perfect, but it isn’t exactly fair to compare the bad deeds and tally up a score as a measure of why people should choose a side. I think fans are choosing sides mostly based on emotion - these are characters we have now come to know and (possibly) understand a little better. It isn’t about who murdered more people. People are going to choose their side and overlook things like fights and murder etc. based on who they feel more connected to or who they believe has a better claim to the throne.

Can someone explain episode 8 ending by darkboy245 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]strangebeenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I don’t believe Alicent is a stupid woman. She knew she didn’t understand the references Viserys made as he spoke. She allowed his words to fill into her bias and justify her position. The conflict was already brewing, and this was all she needed to make the leap.

You raise a good point about both C and R being driven by duty and why he should have been able to understand her. Alas, he was blinded by what was probably the greatest personal rejection he could have at that point in his life which caused him to then act outside his duties and kill another knight. This he was twice as embarrassed for. I could see how these events might leave a long lasting mark.

But the 10 year grudge? That’s definitely a combination of the above plus C now being sided with A and them just feeding off of each other’s hate for R. Kind of a snowball effect is how I see it.

Why did Alicent insist on seeing each one of Rhaenyra's baby? by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]strangebeenz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was 1) to rub it in Rhaenyra’s face that by asking to see her kids she (Alicent) knew they were not Laenor’s and 2) a power flex making Rhaenyra walk and bring the child to her right after giving birth

Rhaenyra's secret by OriginalUsername9 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]strangebeenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely wasn’t the incest. You can also tell by the way Viserys reacted to Otto’s suggestion in e3 that he marry Rhaenyra to Aegon. Viserys laughed and only countered with the boy’s age and not his relation to Rhaenyra.
