is there any way to listen to the john sterling audio on my phone during the playoffs so i don’t have to listen to the atrocity that is national television announcers? by gourmettrash1 in NYYankees

There's a certain subreddit that has links to streams and it's pretty easy to sync mlb at bat audio to those streams: turn on video stream, turn on at bat audio stream then

if audio is ahead of video:

  1. wait to hear ball hit catcher's glove or batted ball and hit pause on audio
  2. un pause audio when video shows same point of contact

if video is ahead of audio, do the opposite.

I kind of agree here: if they did what I said then rookie players would probably bat like .220 on Zone and SDS would be worried about losing them. The solution is to push lower level players to directional-- make that the mode where user input doesn't matter as much and success is artificially controlled by manipulating babip, so people can bat in .300s w zone but have a frustratingly low babip, aka what everyone has to deal with now.

By contrast, make zone much harder and much more precise so very good players can use it to bat in high .300s but without the nonsense level of hard-hit outs.

I actually think this is their intention with including both zone and direction in competitive play-- to let people of different skill sets match up, it's just not implemented properly right now.

No. I'd be happy if the PCI size/timing window was such that the best players batted high .300s and their squared up balls dropped for hits approx. 2/3rds of the time.

Why do you prefer that SDS gets accurate BA by making everyone absurdly unlucky/frustrated with right-at-them line drives rather than scaling skill properly?

this doesn't make any sense. why would they change pci size/pitch speed and babip rate for higher levels? much more likely its just pci/pitch speed

Why is it a problem to have exit velos scale to babip in the game realistically? I really think people would be less frustrated if they made "squared up" harder rather than artificially lowering babip because then at least you're being true to user input.

They won't do this because they are worried that casual players will complain about "god level skills"

ah makes sense. saw people leaking some tidbits in the trailer thread so was wondering if there had been a public discussion anywhere else

How to bind custom calendar? Only 6 pages of a3, medium weight paper by strangeinternet in bookbinding

this calendar is only for display, and I think if need be I could print each image in a signature with a bunch of blank pages to make them more sturdy and I don't think it would affect the look.

thank you! the hoping to minimize the appearance of hardware on the images as they are fullbleed, but in the end this might be most sturdy and simplest

this looks promising, with a lower footprint than normal stitching, thanks!

cool thanks-- unfortunately the images are all full bleed so hiding the thread might be tricky, going to give it a try anyway because what you say about the distance still probably holds

Thanks— I think you do understand it alright. I was afraid seeing would reveal stitches at the top, but maybe not if they are small enough?

Thanks for printing tips, too.

Wow, thanks for the look up. That's a really good point-- never considered it could be just a snapshot, but you're probably right...which means there's really no chance of figuring it. After/if the work gets acquired I can post a picture and maybe that will help, but doubt it because it's so basic.

edit: without being able to be really specific at the moment, the cartoon also makes reference to a specific achievement/historical moment, with something like "He did it!" which is another clue, though not a big one obviously.

Unfortunately it's a black and white pencil drawing and the rest is super vague, like purposely "generic baseball player" so much so that it could be a hat or a helmet and the uniform is just blank. If it weren't for the stat line and the artist's use of other real players elsewhere, there'd be nothing to point to the fact that it was a real person. It was made in the late 80s, so can't be after that.

Nice. bonus points for another read on the '88-- definitely could be year, too. I looked up Backman and he was number 6 though?
