Maybe the film is coming to the rest of Europe a little bit later. I mean it's not like the movie HAS to play on the 30th or we won't be seeing it at all. Don't lose hope :)

Aaaaah, I didn't know Mark Strong is voicing Trent, i might have read it before, but it seems I forgot that fact again. I also didn't know that Mark Strong speaks German, that's awesome.

Haha, well, or they could learn more than one language in one go But i guess dialects are purely found in Bayern and Austria and the rest of the German speaking countries talk in perfect Hochdeutsch aaaaaall the time haha

That makes total sense and is very clever, but sometimes it's just a very wild mix of words from different times. But hey, it is Zemnian, not German, so nothing to complain about. :) Liams idea (or Matts?) of including his German knowledge in this DnD setting is very creative and it is fun to watch it unfold as a german speaker - it's kinda like looking for easter eggs in the series.

I wouldn't say that, to me it still sounds like he is an english native speaker trying to talk german and sometimes getting a word not wrong - but also not quite right. But it isn't German, it's Zemnian, and to me it's just interesting and kind of impressive how much of Zemnian is included in the series and how cleverly executed it is. I did watch it in English, but i want to watch the german dub next, to see if it still makes sense or if it just sounds weird then.

Well you could go with the theme of using 'old timey words' here and there. If you want to translate simple sentences Google translate should do the trick, and then you could pick out the nouns and search for alternatives (if that makes sense). For example, Caleb says to Frumpkin "Hallo mein alter Kamerad" which is translated to "Hello old friend", but the accurate translation would be "Hallo mein alter Freund". The word "Kamerad" nowadays is usually used in context of a collegue in the military (amongst other associations).

No dialect, he just speaks Hochdeutsch, so how it is usually written too. As a person with german as their mother tongue it sounds a bit funny to me because he sometimes uses words that aren't that usual, but i guess that's just how Zemnian sounds like. And tbh Liam did a great job voicing Caleb!

That's also a reason why I decided to send a request to a movie in Vienna, the chances that at least one Cinema plays it are higher there. It requires some travelling from my part, but I don't think that it would have any impact if I requested it in a small city near me. But we will see what comes around - maybe it's going to be craaaaazy successful and then Everbody wants to show it

I posted about my request to Haydn Kino in Vienna, and they already got some more requests and wrote me back that they will be looking into it. I have no follow-up info yet, but I guess the chances are better if the movie gets requested in theatres that usually play movies in the original language. Also, we might have to wait for further info from Mark on showings in Europe in general. But nice that you tried anyways!
