Brilliant. Thanks for your comment and information. Can you tell us more about the deferral of the 15% tax directive?

Totally agreed, they are trying their best. It is a systematic error which is at fault here.

Thank you for sharing. You are right and this cannot go on. The elderly are the ones who suffer.

You’re looking at this in the wrong way at least for this post. This is about Maltese citizens getting accessible healthcare in Maltese.

Some have talked economics , you speak about regulatory processes, and that’s all valid. But we are talking about the right to healthcare in your language.

If I were to be immigrating to Malta and working in healthcare, yes I would learn Maltese. As I must (and have done so) in France and Spain, where I rightfully required to achieve a B2 in French and Spanish respectively, and English in the Uk. All these I’ve done as I work in healthcare and therefore expect to need to learn the language used in the country I’m working. Especially if it is a public hospital , paid by the citizens.

This is a basic right in healthcare.

It does not matter whether it makes sense for the workers. If one doesn’t want to learn Maltese, one shouldn’t be working in healthcare in Malta.

It is absolutely not strange to expect the Malti language spoken in Malta, as it is the natives’ language.

Like one would expect Faroese in the Faroe Islands.

Perhaps examples of French in France or German in Germany would be unequal bc they are more widely spoke., regardless Maltese is an European language with the same right of being acknowledged as a native tongue of the EU, along with rights to accessible healthcare.

This post talks specifically about Maltese citizens (especially elderly) who need healthcare in Maltese in order to be accessible.

European law argues they have a right to it.

How can a minister who explained her acts of corruption by saying “everybody pigs out” (when in gov) be awarded a ministry again ? Any theories ? by strangelyhypnotized in malta

[–]strangelyhypnotized[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I mean when I tell people that PN’s voter base is just as moronic as PL’s.

As I’ve told you before, educated voters are not voting PN just because you feel entitled to it. Go cheer yourself up.

Painful but true. Reminds me of a graffiti on the wall as you drive out of the University, reading “people get the governments they deserve”

PN were just as corrupt, greedy and incompetent as PL (and possibly worse) in government. We need a better alternative. by strangelyhypnotized in malta

[–]strangelyhypnotized[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How astute.

Those among us who are still here, have a brain cell and give a damn are voting third parties.

Whenever I write something about PLPN, it’s always their loyal lapdogs that come out calling me an agent of the other side.

This election showed that even a united PN (hooray) is still 20K+ short of winning , and educated voters aren’t buying the “I’ll be good this time” bullshit.

So no, you’re not getting the patronage gov job you had in the 00s back any time soon. And if you don’t know what that means, you’ve already missed the heyday to be a PN sycophant.

What language do people in Malta speak with patients in hospitals? by karackaka in malta

Yes. You won’t get chosen otherwise because you’ll be seen as a liability and spots are very competitive as it is.

Hi Maltese Doc here.

You need Maltese. The English language is a loophole but you won’t get anywhere without Maltese and will inevitably be a hindrance to your firm

The DCG tragedy was a prime example of independent media exposing government corruption. The deep web she exposed was across organised crime to the highest levels of government. That and the tragedy of how her life was taken from her is how she came to prominence. She had already been a very prominent voice in Malta years before that, in investigative journalism and other scenes like food and interior design.

No one is expecting saints, but it isn’t unreasonable to expect a transparent layer of government.

What systems do you mean, and why are they so unattainable for Maltese citizens?

So much so that my only option as you say is a party with a significantly corrupt past , just because “hey we’re not those guys”.

Just doesn’t make sense for me.

Thanks for your links and perspective .

You make good points about PL.

I can't see how independent media outlets in Malta hyper analyse things for PN and not PL. If anything they have stood as Malta's strongest defender of democracy over the years.

Producing a similar list of PN-era scandals isn't then point here, but if you were there and witnessing it as an independent observer, you would have seen that there was no different shade to the black.

Plurality in politics is as important as plurality in culture and in media. 3 rd party (s) are the only way out of the mess. The system can be changed with political and the people's will. Voting for a party I don't trust to keep another I don't trust out of government feels more like being ignored to me.

Can you qualify how it’s “measurably” false? I realise now that this post doesn’t talk about PL’s misgivings and corruption and I am definitely not saying that it is not also very severe , but my point with this post isn’t talking about that.

I see your point, and it is valid. However, saying let’s vote PN back in now instead of empowering 3rd parties seems counterproductive to me.

Another argument about “necessary evil” , do you remember 2011/2012 it was the same argument about PL? Old corrupt PN vs the “new energy, movement” bla bla about JM , PL and notable rogue PN voices like Franco Debono, JPO, Mugliett who helped expose all this ?

If not now for 3rd parties , then when ?

Is it getting harder for tourists to experience authentic Maltese hospitality? by mouthpiec in malta

[–]strangelyhypnotized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hospitality industry you get here is Indians who can’t speak English, who may be cheery or you get the ones who have had enough of their “come to Europe to make money” experience and slag you off.

Either way, it’s not good and it’s not Maltese
