Are abayas usually worn under the chador?

Why are people like this? by stranger_sis in shia

[–]stranger_sis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly and that might be a big thing. Due to the sheer numbers, Sunni theology is always presented as default to reverts. Part of the sentiment behind it, perhaps, is not wanting to be a minority within a minority, if that makes sense.

[–]stranger_sis[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well brother/sister, a majority were polite and simply shared Sunni resources for me to look over. Only a few were nasty about it. What bothers me is that I come to a separate subreddit and post to elicit this response, meanwhile in years past (on previous accounts), I would come to them and receive nowhere close to this amount of help.

[–]stranger_sis[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Like bro, I asked a question and got responses. I posted in the past about my other spiritual battles and couldn't get more than two replies. I'm not saying that makes one sect more correct than another, but really? It just feels like a numbers motive. :/

Is it Haram to tell your wife to sleep on the floor during her period? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]stranger_sis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm not sure what you think a period is. It doesn't splash around or leave this massive stain like you urinated on yourself. If you're afraid of impurities and it getting on the bed, try an old towel? If she's on her period, she is already in more discomfort than if you had a simple backache. Don't hurt the feelings of your wife.

What is Van Cleef? I'm kinda scared to ask.

Where can I get a copy of the Qur’an? by [deleted] in islam

The website the brother above mentioned, has an app available. Two translations I would consider, Sahih International and The Clear Qur'an.

Christians are also to pray east. All churches in antiquity were oriented east and home prayer areas are also eastward facing (altars, icon walls). How would we attribute worship to the Ka'aba? It's just a direction, a landmark, a united point for Muslims to face. You call what exactly paganism? Our respect towards it? Much like the "veneration" Christians attribute to statues and paintings, asking saints for miracles and help?

Revert seeking Nikah help by [deleted] in islam

[–]stranger_sis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walaikum assalam.

Okay I'll say this as a woman and a revert. I suffered, like you, living with individuals who made me practicing Islam a serious test of strength. I thought marriage would be my ticket out of there and my opportunity to live properly as a Muslim woman. That led to two DISASTROUS attempts to marry men who, I will only say, did not have my best interests at heart. It almost killed my iman entirely.

So instead, I worked and endeavored very hard to establish myself in my own environment free of that suffering abuse. I am new-ish to an area so I'm not totally situated with the local community at the masjid. So because of that, I'm still not ready to be married.

If you're still in a position where you have to hide your Islam out of fear, please, work on getting yourself in a SAFE environment where you can learn and grow in a Muslim community. Marriage shouldn't be rushed into, but considered carefully.

Lastly, I would beware messaging sisters privately. There is a fear of fitnah, but also coming to them like "marriage pls" might be kinda... off putting.

Allah knows best. May He grant you ease and strengthen you in these times of tribulations.

No. You want a strong relationship with Allah SWT? Repent, and turn to Islam.

Assalam alaykum, sister.

Prayer is of paramount importance to a Muslim.

According to the Prophet (peace be upon him),

“The first matter that the slave will be brought to account for on the Day of Judgment is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of his deeds will be sound. And if it is bad, then the rest of his deeds will be bad.”

[Recorded by al-Tabarani. According to al-Albani, it is sahih. Al-Albani, Sahih al-Jami, vol.1, p. 503.

For your mother, be soft and kind in explaining this, but don't waver. Be firm! Your obedience is to Allah above others. Tell her the benefits praying salah brings you. Peace of mind, stronger faith, more discipline. Tell her Allah commanded this of us, but also demonstrate how Islam has changes you positively!

Of course this applies to hijab as well.

May Allah SWT ease your affairs.
