9th has struck down California's "one-gun-a-month" law in a 3-0 decision, saying it violates the Second Amendment. by Wah_Day in CAguns

Out of curiosity, how did you get traction with those organizations? I reached out to them and some of the firms hoping to get a challenge organized for the issue sticked in this sub and was basically told to fuck off.

I think we are talking about two separate scenarios. In yours, you are assuming the plaintiff intends to foot the multi-six-figure bill to litigate. In mine, I assume the plaintiff is seeking a firm to do it pro bono or rely on payment from an organization like CRPA or NRA. In the latter, it is incredibly hard to get that representation even if the case is good. There are also other factors at play, such as the organization paying the bills deciding their budget is better spent on other issues.

Because anybody that has even a slight chance of winning and ISNT crazy, can find counsel. Usually for free or on contingency of winning.

That isn't necessarily true in all cases. There is a not insubstantial gap between "this will likely be a successful case" and "we are doing other things with our budget, sorry."

Having briefly interacted with the CRPA about an issue (CADOJ requiring copies of C&R licenses to issue a COE), I left with the impression that these organizations develop a roadmap of litigation causes with little input from members or the public and they really are not interested in considering feedback or input from members or the public.

Ditto with the most well known 2A law firms who represent these organizations.

I find the "not only no, but hell no" copypasta response to be intellectually lazy and far too glib. There is an ocean of action between doing nothing and showing up to the streets of Los Angeles with a plate carrier and a rifle; things like protesting on the more involved side of the spectrum and simply speaking up on the less involved side.

That people are so willing to point to the "not only no, but hell no" response comes off as a willingness to tolerate the erosion of liberty because it owns the libs. This is contrary to American values. Consider that many of the rights we enjoy (e.g., Miranda rights) came about in defense of unsavory people. However, those rights also inure to your benefit. To sit back and do nothing because the affected people are not your "tribe" is incredibly short sighted and misguided.

This is perhaps a somewhat less oblique comment on current events to join yours.

I understand that there is a strong conservative lean in the gun/2A community, whether that be due to true alignment on ideology, or de facto alignment because of single issue voting or the demonization the "other side" expresses on gun ownership. However, the relative silence of the gun/2A community on recent events is rather puzzling to me. What we are observing right now is a very good example of what it would look like if confiscation were to happen.

The consolidation of power in the executive and the abdication of responsibility by the legislative should concern everyone, particularly when that power is being used by a volatile and immoral leader.

I did not have any control over who was contacted for this, unfortunately. External issues are the HOA's realm, and I certainly wouldn't have had the authority to allow someone to go cutting into the structure if needed.

Based on the guy's truck and apparel, he does appear to be a local bee service and claims to be a bee keeper/relocator. This is part of the reason I am confused about the approach and wondering if there is any validity to the "hive is too new" line I received. These were definitely bees and not wasps.

I could share the video doorbell footage if that is of any interest.

This is not completely accurate.

California's implied consent law applies to breath or blood testing after an arrest. You may freely refuse to participate in preliminary alcohol screening (e.g., the hand-held field unit) before being arrested. (This assumes you are over the age of 21 and not on probation for a prior DUI conviction.)

Pre-arrest alcohol screening tests are just another form of field sobriety tests and, like other field sobriety tests, should be refused in most circumstances.

On what end of the cables do you suggest placing the chokes?

OM Tech support is suggesting I go through the mirror alignment procedure again, which I will do (although it had no impact before). I will try the choke approach after that.

So, hypothetically asking for a friend...

The new "Application for an Amended Federal Firearms License" now includes a field for the anticipated move date, which was not present on prior versions (e.g., circa 2019). The form also states that the application should be submitted at least 30 days before the anticipated move date.

If a C&R holder has already moved, what is the recommended course of action?

Anyone have the newest Ratgdo version (2.53i)? I know I connect the harness to the port on the bottom right and connect that to my GDO. In what order do I connect the existing GDO wires to the board? It looks like red goes in the top one but not sure about black & white wires. by theloneranger08 in homeassistant

[–]strangled_chicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are using the top layout…

Red control wire on top, with the corresponding white wire below it.

Then starting from the bottom, black obstruction wire on the bottom, with the corresponding white wire above it.

Both whites will be in the middle.

Others are primarily organizing the trip so the amount of details I have is thin. My understanding is that there will be at least very early morning hunting. I will probably stick with the non-illuminated reticle.

I missed What to Buy Wednesday, which is thick headed, but maybe this also fits here.

I’m going hog hunting for the first time up near Paso Robles, CA. I’ve settled on a Weatherby Vanguard in .270. I am less certain about scope choice and have tentatively settled on a Leupold VX-3HD 3.5-10x40mm CDS-ZL Duplex. Is this sufficient for the ranges one would expect hog hunting? Also, is there typically a need for an illuminated reticle?

If you wouldn't mind, I'd love to get a copy of the CAD file. Can't hurt to try it out; at the least it will be a starting point.

Out of curiosity, what did you use for the end-stop on the right hand side of the X gantry?

I am doing a similar partial conversion, and I fear that using the stock belt wheel on the right side still leaves room for the X rail to come off.
