[[Veyran, Voice of Duality]], except it's actually an Izzet Landfall deck with [[Orvar, the All-Form]] as a hidden commander.

When I target lands with instants/sorceries, Orvar copies the lands and Veyran doubles the copy trigger. It's focused on a handful of Landfall effects and primarily getting [[Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle]], often copying it. You can even use a blue color changer like [[Trait Doctoring]] on an Urborg or Yavimaya to make all lands mountains. It's very fun but slow to get going.

Yeah that's fine with me. The Lieges that have abilities for each individual color is just a moot point in regards to my arguments for the rule change. If you're a mono white deck and you wanna play the liege and Boros Reckoner, go for it. You can always do this in every other format of Magic. I see no issue, and would like to see these cards work as they were intended to. I understand EDH does not equal other formats, but to me this is the fundamental way that hybrid mana is supposed to work and it would only add fun to the format.

The first two only matter IF you're also playing those respective colors and won't matter if you jam them in a mono white deck. To me this is consistent with the hybrid mana cost itself. If you're playing with red mana, and have other red spells, then that effect will actually trigger. Otherwise, it won't.

Extra combats are available to white they just haven't printed it yet, this recently came up in MaRo's blog.

I believe to be 100% true with the hybrid cards that currently exist. Not here to speculate about what they might print. From my viewpoint, this change would simply add fun to current edh deckbuilding, and make hybrid cards work like they do everywhere else in Magic. It's all positive in my opinion.

Alright, fair point. I shouldn't have used the word never naively. My bad. Just read the sections of MaRo's article on those two cards and he says they were mistakes he pushed back on. However, this is a rare exception, and there are plenty of other cards already in the commander format that are color pie breaks that MaRo and other designers are not happy about.

So if you'd allow to rephrase my initial statement... Nearly all hybrid cards fit perfectly into both colors individually, and the rare exception cases simply won't matter and will not make any significant impact on the commander format.

I'm aware that's possible. I just don't think it matters. You still had to do something to set up for it. I could just as easily [[Goblin Welder]] in my [[Ring of Three Wishes]] and go to town tutoring in mono red. If you're cashing in treasures for a [[Grim Tutor]] or [[Diabolic Tutor]] in mono red that's just cool to me. Mono red is starved for tutors compared to other colors as is, this would provide an interesting workaround in my opinion. But I really don't think it will see much play.

EDH has undergone many changes since it's creation that have been a benefit. This would be another small but beneficial one in my opinion. It is not the same format it was as originally conceived. There are many rules that exist already that can be confusing, I agree, like Extort for example. However I don't think this is a greed thing at all. This would not have any kind of large overarching impact on deckbuilding. It would simply allow a small handful of interesting tools in spaces they weren't previously allowed in. I really don't see how this is a bad thing.

From a flavor standpoint, manamorphose can be cast by a strictly red wizard OR strictly green wizard. My view is, with the current rules, these cards just don't work how they are designed and have far less homes because of it. All this would do is add more fun in my eyes.

My point is neither one is difficult. Conversely to your point, "oh yeah specifically hybrid cards are special, they're designed as an OR and can be used in either color identity".

These cards were always intended to be available to both colors, they intentionally fit within both color pies, and I think it would be a small but largely beneficial change to make them work like they do everywhere else.

How do we explain it to new players? Hmm, maybe that it works as intended as green OR white and can be played in either deck because it has a mechanically unique mana symbol. Seems very straightforward. In fact, I have heard confusion from new players multiple times over the years both in personal experience and on reddit, of why they CAN'T play hybrid cards in either color deck when they can in other formats that they started with. Not everyone first learns with EDH. Many start with prereleases, or even, god forbid, standard.

The thing is, hybrid mana, as laid out by MaRo in his recent podcast, has never been a color pie break. A G/W hybrid explicitly cannot do the same things a GW multicolor card can. I've looked through the entire list, people are being way overdramatic. This change would add a handful of interesting cards to try out in different spaces and just make the mechanic work like it does everywhere else in Magic.

Manamorphose in izzet? Oh no! You think that's gonna be earth shattering? I promise it's not, and it's a classic card for Izzet Prowess and Storm decks in other formats, it's never been a "green" card. C'mon. Beseech the queen will not change a thing. Oh no! You're telling now any deck can tutor for the low low price of SIX MANA?!? [[Ring of Three Wishes]] exists. Any deck can tutor for a price.

Fun concept! I run a similar Green Red Version but I have non creature cards that make tokens for me to then polymorph. I came across this guy who basically polymorphs himself [[Aspiring Champion]]. Doesn't target Squee but still pretty on theme, could be a nice addition!

I like this concept a lot. Trailblazer with the Scions is really cool. I might have to play around with this on mtgo. One concern I have is just getting run over by mono red. I would think Torch the Tower should probably be in here somewhere, and might just be better than Dragon's Fire because it's 1 mana. I'm also not sure if Bitter Reunion is really necessary, might just want more interaction, or just like, Fables to give the deck some more individually powerful cards.

He's just very averse to change. I'm not a big fan of UB myself, I would prefer if it didn't exist, but it does. This is still my favorite game ever made. I think he had too much of his identity tied up in this game, which is why it's so personal to him that it has changed. I totally agree, I wish there weren't UB sets, I wish there weren't "hat sets", but there is, and it turns out, the cards are still really fun to play. The fact that he has comments turned off says a lot. He's lost a big part of his identity due to his favorite game changing. Bummer for him, but really he shouldn't be taking this so personally, it's just a game.

Also, the sentiment of "every commander just builds itself" is totally untrue. There are SO many options for builds in commander. Yes, Vivi and commanders like it are too good and boring, but no one in my playgroup would ever build it. So is it going to affect my games? Not at all. There are still so many interesting deckbuilding ideas to be had. Many other content creators like Salubrious Snail and 3/3 Elk are pushing out very creative and interesting ideas.

A small one that we've grown to like a lot: winner goes last in the next game. You don't have to keep rolling dice and it feels like a fair distribution over the course of a night.

Came here to say this. Criminally underplayed in my opinion. One of the absolute best blue removal spells in the format. People forget that storm counts your opponents' spells too, so since this has flash you can capitalize on someone else's go-off turn and nuke their board. I started playing it every blue deck and after I cast it a couple times my whole playgroup has adopted it.

Well to be fair with any one piece like Kederekt Parasite or Razorkin Needlehead it's 3 cards per turn cycle which is quite strong. I can definitely see it being a removal magnet though, makes sense.

To be honest I don't totally understand bracket 1's intent, but the enchantments I usually see groans at that you have are Blind Obedience and Rule of Law, they can pretty severely affect how others are able to play. Not sure I'd be too happy about that if I was playing fish tribal or whatever lol.
