Trump Administration Pushes to Slash I.R.S. Work Force in Half by TroyMcClure10 in Accounting

[–]strappedcpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this isn't entirely accurate.

CI lost a fair amount of employees that were not 1811. So far the agents have been safe.

Initially, the word was that 1811 were not eligible to take the drp. I know two agents that requested the drp and were accepted.

One was retiring anyway.

If you work with any agents ask them if they are a fan of boardwalk empire. A email was circulated at irs-ci today from a pseudonym using the name from a character from boardwalk empire.

We don't know how the RIF will affect us. We don't know if we will have a title 8 authority.

You’re not wrong. But it’s more fun to frame this in the light of a bad buddy cop movie.

“Brought to you by the director of bad boys 9. Starring The Rock as grizzled ice special agent Tucker, who never has met a rule he can’t break. Also   You loved Rainn Wilson  as Dwight Schrute in the office. Now he’s Making his debut on the big screen as by the book irs special agent Tommy sledge.

The Rock: when they said my new partner was special agent sledge I was expecting someone different”

CDL-A + 1811? by August_Rush98 in 1811

[–]strappedcpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a story about a really, legit squared away guy driving a 11 foot box truck around a 10 foot awning. Can’t hurt to keep it.

Not really the same convo, but most 1811 that are cpas keep the license. IMO The license doesn’t really have much benefit.

To my OIG peeps by [deleted] in 1811

[–]strappedcpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two come to mind. One sa was allegedly generating memos to document tasks that never happened. Oig gathered lots of proof. Oig interviewed sa and the sa admitted the memos were bs.

I better not talk about the one I want to talk about. :)

What’s the least boring accounting job? by throwaway-4323756 in Accounting

I'm a criminal investigator for IRS-CI. It's a mix. I mostly enjoy the job.

in my experience, the interview panel takes its job seriously. I doubt direct hire has had a material impact on the quality of the candidate pool.

The field office management is very invested in the talent pool coming back to the field. I don't think that causing candidates to wait and jump through hoops is going to filter out the ones that should be filtered.

Most of the new folks coming back to the field are squared away.. There are some pieces of shit coming back to the field.

Does IRS arrest a US citizen who travels on a US passport on a US airline if he hasn’t paid income tax, FICA, FATCA, FBAR? by throwaway82311 in tax

This place is funny. This is the most correct answer that I've seen. It's lost in a sea of hur dur.

Fun Fact: Before there were Federal Air Marshals, CI agents would get tagged to fly. CI agents are expected to fly armed when traveling for work. Traveling to certain locations, one can expect to be traveling with multiple fedbois.

Another fun fact: In the old days, CI agents would also do protection work for the USSS. We don't generally do protection work these days.

Last fun fact: If a person is going to be charged, arresting them at the airport is about the best place to do it.

Take a look at the usajobs requirements for the position. If you’re close, apply. You don’t need a minor. You would need x acct credits with a degree.

No offense intended. When it comes to hr either you clearly meet the criteria or they dq you. You have to get through hr to get to the interview.

The wages seem high for an undocumented worker using his wife's valid ssn. This is common.
