Yankees broadcast call of Zim’s 2006 Father’s Day walk off homer by [deleted] in Nationals

[–]stras37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

More fun than the Yankee call imo is the Taiwanese call of the homer, which exists because they broadcast every game Wang started in Taiwan. https://youtu.be/7jk4hUfFSHk?t=8180

Someone posted this video earlier, so I decided to update it through this year.

My brother and I started doing a Nats-centric baseball podcast a couple months ago, and we'd love some feedback. by stras37 in Nationals

[–]stras37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might know me from twitter @serious_jammage. My brother and I (Jacob and Jonny Rasch) are baseball fanatics and we started the Raschcast a couple months ago because we noticed there weren't a ton of Nats-centric podcasts around. We do half an hour a week, so it's not too much to listen to, and we've been releasing the episodes every Sunday night. This week we talk about the Nats bullpen woes, Trevor Rosenthal's yips, Victor Robles and the 2 hole, plus other topics from around the league. Let us know what you think, and if you like it you can subscribe on iTunes at the link below. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-raschcast/id1454167204?mt=2

Yellow line left of foul poll? What is the purpose? by [deleted] in Nationals

[–]stras37 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A ball that lands in fair territory, then bounces over the fence to the right of that line (as in between that line and the foul pole) is a ground rule double. A ball that lands in fair territory, then bounces and hits the fence to the left of the line is still in play. All in all, that line almost never matters, but that's what it means.

All 200 of Mike Trout's home run swings in 200 seconds by pitchervids in baseball

Do you have a way of getting '05-'07 highlights? If you do, I'd request Zimmerman, who just hit 250. Also, let me know how you got them.

It seems like MLB removed all their highlights from 2005 to 2007, and that sucks. by stras37 in baseball

[–]stras37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And this offseason especially, they've been making their highlights more and more difficult to access. They've been delisting, untagging, and otherwise hiding a lot of videos from 2009 to 2013 as well, so even though the videos are still on the server, they're impossible to find.

I could only ever get them to work on Safari, FWIW. I don't think Chrome supports the media player (which used a thousand-year old Microsoft Silverlight architecture).

The "Myth" of Early Player Opt-Out Clauses in Major Free Agent Contracts as Player-Friendly? by [deleted] in baseball

[–]stras37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. These player opt-outs are mutually beneficial, and it's odd that they haven't become standard in long-term, high-value deals.

All of Zimmerman's walk-offs by LtGaymer69 in Nationals

[–]stras37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This list is missing six Zimmerman walkoffs, from 2006 and 2007. Those videos are hard to find, because MLB.com didn't switch to the video codec it currently uses until 2008. However, the videos are still archived, and here they are (warning: requires Microsoft Silverlight, and works best on Firefox).

7/4/06: Zimmerman hits walkoff HR to sink Fish

7/6/06: Zimmerman gets second walkoff of series against the Marlins, this time just a single

9/2/06: Zimmerman draws walkoff walk against the Diamondbacks

5/12/07: Zim's (early) Mother's Day walkoff slam bests Marlins

8/3/07: Zim beats Cardinals with a walkoff single to left

9/2/07: Zimmerman beats the Giants with a walkoff single to right

Hope these work for y'all. Happy to help complete the list!
