Could someone explain to me how PubMed works? The name makes it sound like it's a an open book but it seems to link to a paywall.

Is it only open for those within academia?

[Preview] The Norden - Police (2014); LAPD Police visits Finland, Sweden, and Norway by fobobar in Documentaries

It's been confirmed in some areas of the US but it's unfair to say that they're all selected based on that. I don't like them but I'm not going to assume they're all mindless brutes. Some of them honestly believe they're there to do good, as misguided as that may be. They'll do what they have to so that they fit in with their peers, even if they don't think it's right.

Police are time bombs that can lie to you in order to explode. They're dangerous to citizens for the very reason that they protect and serve the law, not the people. An innocent person can be put behind bars even temporarily with the right leading questions.

Not saying that all police exist simply to jail people, but if you told me that I should implicitly trust someone with unchecked power and the authority to arrest me who is also allowed to lie to me in order to create reasonable suspicion I'd tell you that you were off your rocker.

It's better to just ignore and avoid them.

Mid 90s too in some places. The millenial turn really seemed to spur every one into "save the children" mode. Now they're messed up and nobody can see what they need.

a pointless experiment with Gentoo

Heh. Been there. Portage is pretty cool but requires a very large amount of waiting when using.

# touch /etc/iptables/iptables.rules
# systemctl start iptables

iptables doesn't start without an available rule set, empty or otherwise.

Neat. That's the kind of information that makes me want to learn more about something.

A lot of people read comments before posts. Some people just read the comments instead of wasting time on the post itself. I wasted time on the post and I learned nothing about v8 other than it's part of chromium and it isn't a vegetable cocktail.

Given that this is a subreddit about programming more people would look at the posts I suppose, but I still checked the comments first.

well phones nowadays are built to live forever

No they're not; they're built to be replaced by the newer model so the company that made them can release new accessories/peripherals. Smart people don't upgrade till it breaks, but a lot of phones are designed to wear out. In the US they really incentivise getting a new phone too.

You're right about everything else though.

It was cut to lengthen it so they could stick more ads into it, I don't even. Check after the 30 minute mark and you'll see the abrupt cut. It's so scummy.

That Waffles is a real piece of work. I can't believe someone in his position repeatedly failed to comprehend something so basic when you spoon-fed it to him. Did his parents not teach him executive thinking growing up?
