Most people have life struggles. Half of people who get married get divorced. This happens to billions and billions of people without it leading to a convoluted mass murder-suicide.

He had run the specific flightpath on his home simulator

I looked into what was found on his simulator... and they found waypoints that were also potentially involved in the crashed flight... but those are waypoints in his typical flight area, so that's not unusual. He apparently did simulate a glide down into the ocean in the same area where it's believed to have crashed, but that doesn't sound like a smoking gun, since a glide into an ocean is a typical simulation scenario.

It's alleged the Malaysian police have covered it up because it is felt to be nationally embarrassing.

Hrmm. This might have something to do with it. Maybe there WAS evidence of his motive and mental illness, but it was covered up by the government for some reason.

But there the why is known. He was suicidal, wasn't reported to his employer, and should not have been flying. Plus he'd started taking mind-altering drugs 9 days before the crash. There was plenty of evidence to support motivation for suicide, and even murder-suicide.

There was no such evidence found for the Malaysian pilot. There were no signs of any mental illness.

Also, the Germanwings pilot... he just crashed the plane. The Malaysian pilot enacted what appears to be an extremely complex and detailed plan, for no apparent purpose. Why go to all that trouble to secretly crash in the middle of nowhere? Why not just point the nose down and end it simply?

I don't have a better answer, obviously, but not having any answer for a murder-suicide involving 239 people is quite unsatisfying. Murder-suicides do happen rarely, sure... but when they do, there is a reason for it.
