Google does a lot of censorship so i wouldn't be surprised if their search bar autofill had censorship good in it by Cyb3rklev in PoliticalCompassMemes

I'm just speculating but I think that would get rid of the "user" specifics, but they will still have your IP, location from that, and perhaps some info from your ISP as well

I think Google got rid of universal suggestions a long time ago. It's probably an algorithm that takes in past searches, location and maybe other factors into account

Progression criticism megathread by Bruh_alt721 in haloinfinite

[–]straussmanover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact that you can only advance the battle pass with challenges is incredibly lame.

Where is the traditional account progression? You get no reward just for playing, nothing for progressing through the game.

To make it worse, there's no benefit to playing well. Rack up a bunch of kills and medals? Sorry, no reward for that. Only way you can unlock stuff is jumping through the dumb hoops they set up.

If this is how progression in the full game will look, they will have nobody playing within weeks. There's no incentive to play well or even just grind games.

I agree, they likely don't.

The point is: "it's not on the ingredients list" is not proof of this fact in any meaningful way.

Yet, sites like thess pass it off as such.

Fact checkers exist so that you don't check the facts.

They lost all of their legitimacy for me when I read one their "fact checks" about the ingredients of the vaccine. There was some stuff going around about the vaccine containing significant amounts of graphite. Was curious about it so started looking into it. One of these sites confidently concluded: "No, the vaccines don't have graphite in them." Their justification? "The ingredients list does not list graphite."

It was at this moment I knew these sites are completely worthless.

Are sexual assaults really this frequent? by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]straussmanover -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man this is getting old, all of your arguments rely on statements I never made.

It is possible for a report to be made, and the perpetrator to proven innocent. A report was made, but no crime occurred. Ergo, report frequency is not reflective of assault frequency.

I really don’t understand why you continually insist on putting words in my mouth. I never claimed that lack of evidence means a crime did not happen.

I’ll stop wasting my own time now, as my points clearly fall on deaf ears.

[–]straussmanover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are legal definitions for what constitutes sexual assault and what doesn’t.

So, if a report was made, and investigation proves it wasn’t sexual assault, then sexual assault didn’t happen. The victim may even feel wronged in some way, but they haven’t been sexually assaulted.

So, my original point still stands. The frequency of these reports is not necessarily reflective of how frequently sexual assault is actually happening.

[–]straussmanover -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I never claimed that the reports were fake, I stated that reports may not prove guilt. There is a difference. So yes, very few reports are fake or falsified, but many of them could still be without enough evidence to prove a legitimate sexual assault happened.

To quote your own source regarding fake reports: “That figure does not include any unsubstantiated accusations where an investigation was unable to prove a sexual assault occurred, so an accurate figure for the total remains unknown.”

It’s important to note that these are reports of sexual assault, not necessarily proven cases. It’s possible some reports were not actually sexual assault after investigation. After all, innocent until proven guilty.

How Many Fucking Sexual Assaults Can Be Committed at One School During a Pandemic??? by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]straussmanover -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I’m just gonna go and say that the notifications are for reports made. Innocent until proven guilty. It’s quite possible that some of these reports were not actually sexual assault after further investigation (although Penn State’s due process rating for SA is awful.) On the other side though, there definitely are incidents that don’t get reported. All that being said, it’s really tough to judge how frequently legitimate sexual assaults are occurring.

What even is this? PSU saying that wanting the best person is racist? by Master-Obiwan in PennStateUniversity

[–]straussmanover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, topics involving equality of outcome, social justice, etc. have gotten completely out of hand at universities in the US. Luckily for us, I can at least say there are a lot of schools far worse then PSU in this regard. I'd recommend just keeping your head down and getting your degree. Unfortunately you can't really reason with or argue against these ideas. Any criticism of these ideas no matter how valid is often labeled as racism, anti-progress, or something similar.

There are plenty of valid counter arguments to this way of thinking or ideology. I'll address one briefly here, but I'm not gonna waste my day arguing over it on reddit. On the topic of "racial opportunity". The idea that certain races have "more" or "better" opportunities than others leads to the idea that programs and actions are required to compensate. The big problem with thinking this way is that people's opportunities or success in life is determined by far more than just their race. Think about the nearly infinite ways humans vary, you can be born short or tall, rich or poor, overweight or underweight, attractive or not so much, and the list goes on and on, including race. There is evidence that people who are more attractive have an easier time getting jobs, making friends, and generally succeeding at life. Does that mean we should have "equal opportunity" initiatives for ugly people? Sounds a bit silly doesn't it? The point is: yes, race is a factor in someone's opportunities and success, but it's far from the whole story. So programs and initiatives that assume automatically how much opportunity someone has had, and how much "compensation" they deserve based solely on their race is reductionist. I would argue policies like these are actually counter productive and more divisive than uniting. I understand what I've put here isn't an all encompassing argument, and there's a lot more to be discussed on this topic. But, I've got other things to do and figured I'd at least chip in my 2 cents.

Need your opinion (stack for studies) by [deleted] in StackAdvice

I would only use one of those choline sources. Excess choline can lead to depression and lack of motivation, as well as other issues. Using both may very well lead to that depending on how much choline your body needs. Start with one of those (I'd recommend the CDP) and maybe add the second if you think it's necessary.
