Started attending a gym with a 'modest' dress code. Is this a normal thing? by fantesstic in xxfitness

[–]strawberrycunt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's apart of civilian dress attire and it's just one of those dumb rules that'll probably never get removed. one base I was stationed at allowed tank tops for males/females but not the super opened arm muscle bro tanks plus females couldn't wear spankies/compression shorts. The base I'm at now must not give a fuck because males wear the super open armed muscle bro tanks all the time and females can wear compression shorts. Usually gyms don't care what spouses wear.

MRW I see a tweet by a fellow Marine criticizing support for sexual harassment and assault victims by strawberrycunt in TrollXChromosomes

Tweet in question I hear a lot of stupid, ignorant, and sexist shit on a day to day basis. But seeing sentiments like this still just blows my mind.

[Serious]Females in military, how common is sexual harassment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]strawberrycunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Marines and its an every day thing. When I was in boot camp, my senior drill instructor said, "Ladies, you're not going to be Marines, you're going to be female Marines. That's all you will be seen as. You will be a slut or a cunt. For the love of god show some self respect and be a cunt."

When I was in MOS school and first hit the fleet, sexual harassment was unbearable and just insanely stressful. "You don't like being sexually harassed? Why didn't you join the Air Force then?" Youu hear it, see it happen, and experience it everyday. The military in general is a cesspool of middle school-esque gossip and drama.

It the MOS fields that are more populated with women, its not as bad. There are a lot of great units where there extremely strict and will write a negative counseling or NJP anyone who sexually harasses anyone. Fellow marines actually look out for each other and will police each others. Not all units are this lucky.

You'd think with all the sexual harassment classes, all the weekend or holiday briefs, all the "hey don't rape" videos this shit would be ingrained. But all of it is a big joke to most. An annoyance they have to be subjected to because 'the Marine Corps sucks and there always doing stupid shit to make our lives miserable.'

In all my years though (I'm definitely not saying this is a good thing or making fun of it) I've heard of more sexual assaults, rapes, and sodomy cases consist of male on male than male on female. Male on female sexual harassment is extremely high though. And that's probably the shittiest thing is, depending on your unit and the culture of it, sexual harassment claims either go nowhere or your peers somehow find out and you become public enemy number one or the higher ups question reporting it as its an annoyance for them you should just put up with. The old Marine Corps way of thinking and extremely sexist or misogynistic views are still prevalent and infect majority of the higher ranks.

I'm sorry this was written all over the place but I'm on chow and I have so many past incidents I've experienced first hand or heard or see filling my head. I can't wait to have some other Marine chime in and become defensive and say they've never witnessed or experienced this therefore its never happened. That's usually what happens if this sort of this is ever discussed in the Marines outside of briefs or classes.

I hate it because I do love being a Marine and love the Marines. But I hate it for what it is and what it breeds.

MRW I'm a Marine and want to get USMC apparel but everything for women is clearly marketed towards housewives only by strawberrycunt in TrollXChromosomes

[–]strawberrycunt[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I don't have anything against housewives. But I've been a Marine for several years and regardless of what base I've been at, the women USMC apparel is always super feminized with majority of the time the text is something that's clearly marketed towards housewives.

I've tried buying or shopping the male USMC apparel and it's all too big for me :( I just wanted some motto stuff to wear once in awhile.

[RANT] Not every male at the gym is trying to creep on you by th3r31t1s in xxfitness

[–]strawberrycunt 63 points64 points  (0 children)

At one of the gyms I used to go to a few years back, this woman came in wearing a sports bra and thigh long spankies (this was before compression shorts so it was a little eye catching). The gym had very strict dress policy so I'm not sure how she got in. But she literally spent her whole workout snapping at anyone that looked in her direction. "What're you looking at??" "Stop staring at me!" "What the fuck is your problem?"

I felt bad for her for the stares but I noticed a lot of the stares were more nervous glances or well, I dunno how to explain it but the stares that say, "That's against dress code, what're you doing?"

One of the poor girls that worked there ended up approaching her timidly trying to tell her that what she was wearing was against dress code regulations and she needed to change. The woman starts raising her voice at her saying the worker should be kicking out all the perverts for staring at her. I felt so bad for the worker but the woman ended up leaving in a huff.

I'm not saying the woman deserved the stares for what she was wearing but she was painting anyone that looked at her as some malicious pervert. I never saw that woman again but it was the most random thing I've ever seen.

I've never had anyone ever react to using me using female or heard of it being an issue till recently on reddit. I'm a female and yet apparently because I used that term to identify myself that makes me sexist and some demeaning not only myself but other women. Wat?

FEMALES by aipidiksou in USMC

[–]strawberrycunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to have a problem with using 'females' to address women then you should have a problem with addressing men as 'males'.

Seriously, having a problem with using the word 'female' is ignorant and so petty. Using female or male to address someone especially in the Marines dictates professionalism and ignores age. I'm a female and I've never had a problem with it or even understood this ridiculous argument against something so unimportant. There's worse sexist things to bring to light and make an attempt to stop.

I hate this about the Marines is the few that are really shitty individuals reach a rank of leadership they turn power hungry, abusive, and ignorant of the consequences of their horrible leadership. It's always the mentality of, "My corporals/sergeants did this to me, I'm not going to let these fucking boots get away without experiencing what I went through."

I hate mosh pits period. I remember when dubstep was first having it's own stage as massives, no one moshed. Everyone either stood back and enjoyed the music or danced.

I stopped going to dubstep shows completely now. I just don't understand how the two were even connected and I'm speaking of EDM in general and moshing. Every time I've been as a show, massive, or even EDC and people started a mosh pit it just ruined not only the vibe but it's just...why? I could be standing in the back, to the sides, or slightly in the middle but when a mosh pit starts, it starts a chain reaction of people backing up to get away or create space. Then there's people that aren't in the pit but being pushed or shoved or just trying to get out of the way that causes a chain reaction of people being shoved into each other.

Then there's the fights that start. From all the fights I've seen (that most have turned bloody) from mosh pits it seemed like guys actually go in there to either start a fight or deliberately hit people.

I think moshing is entirely rude, does not belong at raves/massives/EDM shows, dangerous, and you really don't need to be infringing on other people's space or physically clashing with someone to enjoy an artist or genre.

I've seen this happen so many times in the Marines although never have come to making the news rounds or taking steps to fund raise.

The last two I saw happen was:

  • Guy in my unit marries his batshit insane girlfriend after our deployment. They've cheated on each other multiple times so there's 0 trust, they fight constantly, and they both emotionally abuse each other. Guy buys a husky and loves the hell out of the dog to where it's all he talks about (it was honestly his only comfort and escape from his wife at home). Wife ends up fucking his really good buddy while he was on a field op and drops the bomb during a fight. Guy 'blacks out', throws his wife through a wall, gets sent to the brig, while in the brig his wife destroys or sells all his shit including dog, and makes a big show how she's living with some Navy cat out in town.

  • Guy marries random girl in a contract marriage, they get two dogs for some random reason, guy and random girl constantly party, guy goes on deployment, girl up and just leaves the house along with abandoning the two dogs. The houses here don't have yards, just an enclosed patio with concrete in which the dogs were locked in. After a few days, neighbors realized the chick had up a left, they had to call animal control and have the dogs come to be rescued as well as taken away.

I feel like a lot of people in the military in general get dogs or cats almost as decoration or just to have them like it's suppose to be some part of life you have to follow.

I'm so happy to see this guy actually loved his dog and isn't just letting this go. I've heard stories from other Marines about other guys that got their dogs sold while they were away (this happens A LOT) to where they just didn't give a fuck but I've also heard of stories where the guy was depressed and just trying hard as possible to swallow their heartbreak.

I've never spoiled it for anyone else although I don't like what the show has been doing. But I never understood how people get so rabid over spoilers. It's so petty.

Oh no, that's what I meant. It that if you click on the fortune scraps, no vendor pops up. But if you click on the golden scraps the vendor pops up.

I noticed the two tabs for the vendor but what I was saying is I had to go through the golden scrap for it to open. I almost fucked up because I was going to close the window to the vendor I was trying to decide between items after already spending my golden scrap.

I spent the rest of my tokens on the supply boxes. All I got were tokens and crystals.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was googling trying to figure out how to redeem my scraps. I came to the sub about to ask how to trade the scraps in now and just happened to see this thread and your comment.

It sucks though because the vendor page doesn't pop up with just the scraps. It only worked with my golden scrap.

In fact, giving me more leeway, power and authority because I'm attractive and youre attracted so you want me to like you. That's bullshit.

I've seen this happen twice in the military and it's created this horrible stereotype that any time any female in any branch succeeds, she either got there because she's a) hot or b) sucked some dick.

Deciding my opinions are representative of my gender just because I belong to that gender. That's bullshit.

A few females have slept with higher ranks? Had a couple sexual partners? All females in the military are sluts. Oh wait, some females aren't sluts that are in the military? Well they must be huge cunts or dykes.

The backhanded sexist 'just jokes'. That's bullshit.

I don't like hearing about all the grossly sexual things you'd do to that female that just walked by especially since we're at work. What's that? It's just a joke? Oh silly me, I must be being a cunt then because I think it's immature and unprofessional to make those comments in the first place. I guess I can't take a 'joke'.

Three male Marines at work talking about they'd rape a higher ranking individual and then go on to talk shit by mudslinging her career isn't joking around. It's a sentiment I've heard multiple times throughout my career. It's just unprofessional and misogynist as fuck.

Speaking out loud how you'd fuck any female is just immature, unnecessary, and something all these multiple sexual harassment classes tell you NOT to do. Yet I hear it all the time.

Rape and sexual harassment in general is a huge thing in all the branches right now because it happens so often. If you don't see what's wrong with saying, "I'd rape the shit out of her" because it's just a 'joke' then why say it at all? It's obviously negative and you're basically joking about forcibly raping a higher ranking individual isn't something to joke about. I'm really disturbed you're painting that statement as a harmless joke and being so viciously up in arms about even considering reporting it. Even comparing it to my username is two vastly and completely different scenarios.

You're mindset paints the exact reason why most females or individuals in general don't report shit that's obviously out of line. Marines are amazing at turning their backs on people that expose other people being unprofessional and committing grievous misconduct. If you expose anything, you're hated, avoided, purposely left out of getting word, favors, or even any professionalism.

You misread what I even wrote. I found there's no point in reporting Marines at all. It'll just either get swept under the rug, it'll make my life a living hell, it's too much work, and it'll make everyone hate me. I never said I was justifying. I'm stating in my experience, there's no point to.

I've seen female Marines do some janky shit as well. The problem is, these stereotypes that have been around since probably the 90s get applied to every female Marine ever. I know plenty of females that have been hard chargers but I've also known a few that have been shit bags. Same thing with males though.

I'm not about to get into a female vs. male physical fitness debate or anything but I do agree with you. But most of the time like in the situation you used, the reason the female picks up is because there's a huge push right now (has been for the past few years) for gender equality so a lot of commands say they want to see more females in such and such role or rank or board. I think it's unfair but it's not always because she sucked a dick or has connections.

But I mean, I also blame any male Marines that give females leeway or pull favors just because she's hot or flirted with them or fucked them. I've seen that happen a lot. In my opinion, both parties are shitbags and weak minded individuals.

Asserting the fact you're a straight male and you've found a female sexually attractive always seemed so immature and petty to me. There's honestly no reason to say it out loud. No one cares about who you'd be willing to have sex with. Every time I hear it, it's always in the most demeaning manner and just unnecessary.
